Round Up: Forza Horizon 6 Pulls Incredible Launch Reviews, PS5 Version Still to Come

Forza Horizon 6 comes out on Xbox Series X|S and PC next week, and early reviews indicate the PlayStation 5 version, releasing later this year, will be excellent.

With an average score of 92 from over 60 critics, this game is being called a “must-play” and has received widespread praise. It matches the score of Forza Horizon 5, a highly-rated racing game recently released on PS5 and considered one of the best in the genre. A new installment, Forza Horizon 6, is set to launch on PS5 later this year.

While Gran Turismo 7 appeals to serious racing fans, Forza Horizon is the leading arcade racing series on PlayStation 5, even though it’s made by Xbox. The Crew Motorfest is its closest competitor, but it doesn’t quite measure up to Forza Horizon.

Here’s a collection of Forza Horizon 6 reviews to help you get an idea of what to expect when the game arrives on PS5 later this year. We’ll also be publishing our own review when the PS5 version is released.

Eurogamer – 5/5

Forza Horizon 6 builds on 14 years of racing expertise, offering a game that’s both incredibly helpful for new players and a beautifully crafted experience for veterans. Playground Games has once again delivered a fantastic title.

IGN – 10/10

Okay, so Forza Horizon 6 is seriously incredible. It runs flawlessly – like a total beast – and it’s hands-down the most beautiful and best-sounding Forza game Playground has ever made. The world they’ve built is just… wow. It’s packed with so much detail and the roads are amazing to drive on. I’m completely hooked, honestly. I keep exploring and the campaign keeps me wanting more. Look, Forza Horizon 3 will always have a special place in my heart – driving around Australia was just perfect – but let’s be real: Forza Horizon 6 is the best one yet. It’s a masterpiece and it totally raises the bar for open-world racing.

VGC – 5/5

Forza Horizon 5 was fantastic, and Forza Horizon 6 builds on that success to create an even more immersive and fun experience. The game is packed with racing, exploration, and collectibles, and it’s only going to get bigger with future updates. It’s a must-have title for any gamer.

DualShockers – 9.5/10

Forza Horizon 6 lives up to the hype. I’m especially loving the Japan setting – the game’s map is beautifully done. After a week of playing, it feels like I’ve only begun to explore everything it offers. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, the Horizon series didn’t need to. Playground Games has successfully continued a winning formula, delivering another top-tier racing experience with Forza Horizon 6.

Pure Xbox – 9/10

Forza Horizon 6 is the best game in the series yet, offering a truly complete experience. The Japanese setting is beautifully realized and incredibly fun to drive around, with stunning visuals throughout. While I’d hoped for a few more unique races and events, especially in Tokyo, it’s a minor complaint considering how much the game already offers. Fans of Forza Horizon will absolutely love this sixth installment, and it’s sure to stay fresh for a long time thanks to Playground Games’ continued support and updates. With Horizon Japan now available, I predict I’ll be playing this game for years to come.

GameSpot – 8/10

Forza Horizon 6 is a stunning open-world game that perfectly blends exciting racing with the feeling of a relaxing getaway. Setting the game in Japan was a fantastic decision, providing the best map the series has ever seen. As always, the game features a huge selection of cars that look and handle beautifully on any surface. With extensive customization options and a constant stream of rewards, every moment is enjoyable. While long-time fans might find some familiar elements, Forza Horizon 6 still offers plenty of fresh content and remains a thrilling and incredibly fun addition to an already excellent racing series.

GamesRader – 8/10

This game could have been the best racing game ever if it had more exciting rivalries, closer races, tougher obstacles, and more realistic crash damage. As it stands, while it doesn’t take enough risks to be a must-have for hardcore racing fans, even they will likely find it incredibly enjoyable and well-made. It’s truly an amazing game.
