Wind Breaker has quickly become a popular action anime based on the ongoing manga by Satoru Nii, originally published in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket. The first two seasons, which premiered in 2024, were big hits on Crunchyroll, and Netflix recently started streaming them. While fans are enjoying the series, there’s currently no news about a third season. It’s been nearly a year since the second season ended, and the studio hasn’t announced any plans for a continuation.
The popular series launched a live-action version in Japan in December 2025, but there are currently no plans for another season. Despite some hold-ups with both the live-action show and the anime, the manga continues to release new chapters every week. Volume 26 is scheduled to come out on June 9th, 2026. The cover was revealed on X (formerly Twitter) by @MangaMoguraRE, a well-known source for anime and manga news. It shows Sakura guiding his younger self, symbolizing his journey to overcome his past. The release date applies to the Japanese edition only; English versions will be available a few months later. Currently, 19 volumes of the manga are available in both print and digital formats, while Volumes 20 and 21 are digital-only.
What Is Wind Breaker About?

Haruka Sakura is a new student at Furin High, hoping for a fresh start after being bullied for his unusual appearance in his old town. He’s withdrawn and struggles to express himself, finding solace only in fighting. He moves to a new town aiming to become strong, but discovers the group of tough kids he wants to join are actually heroes who use their strength to protect the community.
Sakura never wanted to be a hero, and he didn’t feel any responsibility to protect people, especially since he often felt isolated and alone. The members of Bofurin, a group led by Hajime Umemiya, were already dedicated to keeping the town safe, avoiding trouble with other gangs whenever possible. Surprisingly, despite his initial reservations about attending the school, Sakura quickly became one of them, joining Bofurin to protect the town alongside his new friends.
He’s finally accepted and appreciated by others because of his bravery. As the story unfolds, he becomes more confident and discovers a sense of belonging. We follow his rise in power within Bofurin, but his path is complicated by rival gangs who disrupt the town’s peace. The season finale leaves viewers on the edge of their seats, hinting at an incredible storyline from the manga that’s likely to be featured in the next season.
