Netflix’s new Korean drama, The Wonderfools, reunites the lead actor and director from the popular series Extraordinary Attorney Woo, but this time with a completely different story.
At the start of the new millennium, fueled by fears of the Y2K bug, this series follows a diverse group of people who unexpectedly develop superpowers. They struggle to control their abilities and use them for good as a major crisis unfolds.
The town is haunted by disappearances and the arrival of a strange new church, bringing back terrifying memories of a dark past they believed was finally over.
It takes the main characters a little while to learn how to use their new powers, but their unusual beginnings might just be the start of a much bigger, more magical adventure. Here’s what we currently know about what’s next for The Wonderfools on Netflix.
Will there be a season 2 of The Wonderfools on Netflix?
Okay, so here’s the deal with The Wonderfools. Netflix hasn’t officially said if we’ll get a season two, which isn’t super encouraging. They’ve actually labeled it a “limited series,” and that usually means it was designed as a one-and-done story. Don’t hold your breath, but never say never, I guess!
The term ‘limited series’ usually means a show planned for just one season. However, if a show proves popular with viewers, it can sometimes be extended beyond that initial plan, as seen with series like Squid Game and Big Little Lies.
Compared to American TV shows, even popular K-dramas usually have fewer episodes. For example, despite being a hit with viewers around the world, Park Eun-bin’s previous drama, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, won’t be getting another season.
As of right now, it doesn’t look like The Wonderfools will be back for another season.
How many episodes are there in The Wonderfools?
The Wonderfools consists of eight episodes in total, each clocking in at about an hour long.
Who stars in The Wonderfools cast?

The new series, Wonderfools, stars Park Eun-bin, known for her role in Extraordinary Attorney Woo. She plays a character who seems to have a chaotic life but suddenly develops superpowers around the year 2000.
Right now, Cha Eun-woo is the cast member receiving the most attention in South Korea, but it’s unfortunately not for good reasons.
The hugely popular celebrity, with nearly 50 million followers on Instagram, recently faced criticism after it was revealed he owed around ₩13 billion (about £6.5 million) in taxes. According to reports from The Straits Times, the tax bill was paid in April.
There was concern that Cha’s part in ‘The Wonderfools’ might be reduced or even removed due to the recent criticism. However, the show’s director, Yoo In-sik, felt Cha’s performance was strong enough to remain in the series.

I found out about the news just like everyone else – through the headlines, and unfortunately, most of the editing was already finished by then. This project was truly a passion project for me, something I’d dreamed of for years, and it took a lot of hard work from the entire team to bring it to life.
We focused on the overall project. The actor’s role was incredibly demanding, both physically and emotionally, but he, like everyone else in the cast, put in a tremendous effort. I’m very happy with the final result.
Here’s an overview of The Wonderfools cast for season 1:
- Park Eun-bin as Eun Chae-ni
- Cha Eun-woo as Lee Woon-jeong
- Kim Hae-sook as Kim Jeon-bok
- Choi Dae-hoon as Son Kyung-hoon
- Im Seong-jae [ko] as Kang Ro-bin
- Son Hyun-joo as Ha Won-do
- Bae Na-ra as Kim Pal-ho
- Jung Yi-seo as Seok Ju-ran
- Choi Yoon-ji as Seok Ho-ran
