Pictures of Xbox Cloud Controller, New Elite Controller Leaked – Rumor

It’s been seven years since the release of the Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller, but Microsoft appears to be working on a new version. Recent images shared by Technoblog suggest a third-generation Xbox Elite Controller is in development. The controller seems to maintain the sleek matte black design of its predecessors, with silver accents around the D-pad and analog sticks.

The next Xbox Elite Controller Series 3 appears to have a significant new feature: scroll wheels on the underside. While we don’t know exactly how they’ll work, some believe they could allow the controller to be used effectively in games typically played with a mouse, such as strategy titles. Additionally, the new controller seems to have a removable, rechargeable battery and a switch that may enable players to customize how the controller functions.

The core design of the Series 3 Elite Controller will remain largely the same, including the familiar offset analog stick layout. The Xbox Guide button will function similarly to the standard Xbox controller, now featuring three buttons instead of one.

The Xbox Elite Controller series is designed for dedicated gamers who appreciate being able to personalize their controllers. For example, the Series 2 controller let players swap out parts like the thumbsticks and directional pad to create a controller that perfectly suits their preferences.

Leaks suggest Xbox is working on more than just a new Elite controller. A separate controller specifically designed for cloud gaming has also surfaced online. This controller has a boxier design than current models and features a rechargeable battery that lasts for 500 mAh. It can connect wirelessly via Wi-Fi (on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands) and Bluetooth, or players can use a USB-C cable for a wired connection.

The controller will have all the standard buttons you’d expect – bumpers, triggers, a directional pad, and a button for pairing. This pairing button lets you easily switch between playing locally and using cloud gaming. When using cloud gaming, you’ll need to connect the controller to your device using the Xbox mobile app.

Last year, hints about new controllers started appearing online. Files related to Xbox’s cloud gaming service mentioned hardware codenamed “sebile” and “actium.” “Sebile” seemed to refer to a controller for cloud gaming, and “actium” was thought to be a next-generation Xbox Elite controller. Reports also suggested these controllers would work with future Xbox consoles and feature improved vibrations, much like the DualSense controller on the PlayStation 5.

So far, there’s no information on how much these new controllers will cost, or when they’ll be officially announced.
