Chelsea Griffin and Kwame Appiah’s marriage has seen its final days.
Four years after finding love on the Netflix show Love Is Blind, the couple from season four has announced their separation.
Chelsea announced on Instagram on May 15th that she and her husband are getting divorced. She shared a touching black and white photo of them embracing and explained that she’s saddened by the outcome, as she had hoped their relationship would last a lifetime and was committed to building a future with him.
So, what was the reason for the split?
Chelsea, 34, clarified that the problem wasn’t a lack of affection. She explained that she and her soon-to-be-ex-partner simply grew apart over time. While she gave the marriage her all and hoped it would succeed, she realized that love isn’t always enough for a marriage to last.
It’s been really tough, honestly, going through this. As someone who’s followed their journey since the Seattle season, hearing her describe this time as ‘deeply painful’ breaks my heart. But even through everything, she’s expressed so much gratitude for the life they built, all the memories, and the experiences they shared. It’s inspiring to see her focus on the good, even now.
Chelsea concluded her update with an optimistic message, expressing hope that time would bring healing and understanding.
Kwame, who came to the U.S. from Ghana as a child and brought his sister Barbara for his television wedding, also expressed shock and sadness about the split, calling it something he never expected.
Kwame, 36, explained that making this decision was incredibly difficult. He added that despite everything, he and the other person will always treat each other with respect and care.
Kwame said, before ending the conversation, that even though it was hard to reach this point, he thought it was the right decision because he and the other person had different long-term goals.

Chelsea and Kwame expressed their gratitude to fans of Love Is Blind for their years of support. The show, hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, is famous for pairing people up and getting them engaged—all without the couples ever seeing each other until after they’ve proposed, and often within just a few days of meeting.
Chelsea and Kwame had some initial worries – he lived in Portland, Oregon, and would need to move to Seattle, and they didn’t completely agree on when they wanted to have children. Despite these concerns, they got married in 2022 and happily celebrated their second anniversary in 2024.
Kwame shared a series of joyful photos on Instagram, writing about how his partner helps him grow as a person. He reflected on their relationship, describing it as a beautiful journey with its share of challenges, and expressed his belief that their meeting was a fortunate accident—proof that believing in miracles can make them happen.

Amber, the mother of Emma, was nervous leading up to her wedding, and worried Jordan might change his mind at the last minute.
She was relieved when both of them agreed, and the joyful announcement brought tears to the eyes of nearly everyone there, even her daughter.
The couple announced at the season 10 reunion that they had broken up just four months prior, sharing the news in a heartfelt conversation.

Right before their nuptials, Brittany revealed she was “shocked” when Devonta called it all off.
She shared with the camera that today was meant to be her wedding day, but it didn’t happen. She added that she feels like none of her hopes and dreams are coming true right now.
Let me tell you, sometimes even when things seem good, they’re just not the right fit long-term. My past relationship was great, truly, but I realized I couldn’t move forward with any uncertainty about whether I could fully meet my partner’s needs. That self-doubt was a dealbreaker for me – I just couldn’t walk down the aisle with that hanging over us. It wasn’t about them, it was about me needing to be 100% sure of my ability to love wholeheartedly, and I wasn’t.
Despite Brittany saying they’ll remain a couple, Devonta has stated he doesn’t share that view.
Devonta shared at the season 10 reunion that he’s engaged to a longtime friend and they are expecting a child.

Despite calling off their wedding just days before it was supposed to happen, Bri and Connor revealed at the reunion that they are still deeply in love and plan to eventually get married.

Their engagement ended suddenly when Chris told Jessica he wasn’t physically attracted to her.
Jessica later shared at the reunion that she had found love with another participant, Dr. Haramol Gill.
Honestly, hearing Haramol say that to Jess just melted my heart. He told her she was everything, and then described how she just lights up any room she enters. It’s so true! She really does have that effect on people – she just makes everything brighter.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen so many relationships blossom in unexpected ways, and this one was no different – they really connected despite never having met in person! However, they ultimately realized they weren’t on the same page about a really big life decision: having children. Emma wasn’t sure she wanted them, while Mike was certain he did, and that difference was just too significant to overcome. It’s a tough reminder that even strong connections need shared foundational values to truly thrive.
As a lifestyle expert, I see a lot of relationships, and this situation is pretty common! Mike’s being honest with Emma, which is a great start. Basically, he is in love with her, but he needs to be sure they’re on the same page about big life goals – specifically, having children. He doesn’t want to rush into a commitment only to discover later they have different visions for their future family. He wants absolute certainty before taking that next step, and that’s incredibly responsible. He’s saying he needs to know, without a doubt, that she envisions a family with him.
Emma mentioned she occasionally envisions a future family for them, but Mike wants her to be completely sure before they move forward.
He told her that before they get married, he needs to be certain they both want to have a family together. He emphasized that it’s important to him that she’s fully committed, and he respects her reasons for feeling the way she does, but he can’t move forward without that certainty. He apologized for needing to be so clear about it.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen a lot of people describe their wedding day, but the soccer coach from this season’s show really nailed it when he said it felt like a penalty shootout! He explained it was a moment with everything riding on it, but he had complete faith they’d come out on top. I thought it was a surprisingly relatable analogy – so much pressure, but ultimately, a belief in a positive outcome. It really captured the emotional weight of the day!
Despite the question, Ashley stated that getting married wasn’t the plan, but he readily agreed when asked if he would say ‘I do’.
“I already know what you’re thinking,” she said to him. “You’re not picking me, and I’m not picking you either.” Ashley then explained why their relationship wasn’t working, even questioning his honesty. Alex immediately responded to her concerns.
He admitted he partially disagreed with her assessment of his character. He explained that the questions about his past felt like a trap, designed to find mistakes rather than to genuinely get to know him.
When asked if he had any regrets, he stated, “I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m very happy with who I am and proud of what I’ve accomplished.”

Christine and Vic immediately connected and were excited about building a future together.
During his wedding vows, he shared that he didn’t expect to find love through such an unusual experience. He told Christine that they had an instant connection when they first spoke while separated by pods, and that she knew him better than anyone else.

Ultimately, Anton’s lifestyle and money problems weren’t a good fit for what Ali wanted.
She told the truck driver, right at the altar, that she couldn’t marry him. She explained that the man she’d connected with while they were dating in the pods was very different from the man she’d gotten to know in person.
So, she listened to her intuition.
She explained to the cameras that the experience didn’t meet her expectations and felt off. She also felt he hadn’t been completely honest about his life.
Anton admitted he wasn’t sure what went wrong – whether it was a matter of appearances, a change in their connection, or simply how they lived their lives. However, he insisted he always cared for her deeply.

Despite connecting over shared experiences with family members who have Type 1 diabetes, Megan and her fiancé had very different lifestyles – he favored simplicity, while she enjoyed luxury. This ultimately led Megan to end their engagement, as shown in the season nine finale.
“It’s like we’re just passing ships,” the entrepreneur explained, “two people living completely separate lives.” But Jordan didn’t understand the comparison, simply saying, “I don’t get it.”
After Megan mentioned Jordan’s difficult eating habits and how hard it was to work around his travel schedule as a parent, he responded by questioning why she had chosen him in the first place when they were dating in the pods.
She admitted she’d hoped their differences would work out, but ultimately she had doubts. “Looking back, I realize I never wanted to get married and risk hurting either of us,” she said, and both of them started to cry.
Jordan admitted his biggest regret was letting his son, Luca, meet her. He explained in a private interview that he believes she doesn’t love him for who he is, and realizing that is what he needs to move on.
Megan shared that the experience made her doubt her abilities as a mother, wondering if she was too focused on her own needs.

At their wedding, both Kalybriah and Edmond admitted they were deeply in love, but Kalybriah ultimately rejected his proposal, offering an apology.
She told the realtor she needed someone who was fully committed, and admitted she wasn’t in that place right now. However, she made sure to say that her decision didn’t mean she didn’t care for him.
It was heartbreaking to watch Edmond get emotional, but Kalybriah was so kind, thanking him for being such a gentleman as she explained she needed to make a tough choice. He was brave enough to ask if we might see them together in the future, and Kalybriah didn’t shut down the idea at all – she said she’d definitely keep an open mind about it. Honestly, it gave me a little hope!
“I am shocked,” he said in a confessional of her decision. “There was no bright side.”

Joe and his partner didn’t get married on season nine because Joe ended things after experiencing an emotional crisis while trying on his tuxedo.
Madison shared with Glamour that Joe presented two distinct sides of himself. When the cameras weren’t rolling, he was comforting and affectionate, often physically close to people. But on camera, his behavior was completely different – a contrast that’s noticeable in scenes like the pool party.
Madison directly asked Joe if he was attracted to her, and he admitted it had been a problem while they were on vacation.
Okay, so I had to ask him what he usually went for, you know? And he said he typically dates smaller women. I’m normally so sure of myself, but honestly, hearing that just… hit me. It made me feel so insecure, right then and there. I couldn’t help but overthink it!
Joe explained that he was clumsily trying to describe a pattern he’d noticed in his past relationships, and didn’t intend to compare or judge anyone.

Nick broke up with Annie right before their wedding, telling her he felt upset that she always claimed to love him more than he loved her.
Despite being told it was finished, the hairstylist didn’t accept it and pleaded with Nick to stay with her, saying, “Just stay with me and love me.”
“You can’t make one plus one equal three,” he said, prompting her to say, “Watch me.”
Nick finally explained to Annie that he didn’t want to marry her because he was unhappy.

Dave and Lauren’s relationship struggled after they arrived in Honduras. While they discovered they had friends in common, that wasn’t the main issue. Dave was bothered by learning that Lauren had previously been with someone they both knew, and he found it hard to move past that.
Plus, Dave hadn’t wanted to introduce Lauren to his friends or family. He hadn’t even told his dad about their engagement, and his sister, who would later cause a lot of problems, didn’t approve of the relationship at all.

I really thought Monica and Joey were a perfect match – honestly, most of us viewers did! We all expected to see them get married and build a life together. But then, when it came down to it, Monica surprised everyone by saying she wasn’t ready to go through with it just then.
She said, crying, that she was completely sure of how she felt, but she didn’t think they were both on the same page. Joey wholeheartedly agreed.
He hugged her and reassured her, saying it was alright. He admitted they clearly cared for each other, but he felt they both needed to focus on personal growth right now. He agreed he wasn’t ready for a relationship and wasn’t fully prepared emotionally at the moment.

Okay, so Ben and Sara… everyone thought they were SO different! Like, total opposites on everything important – religion, politics, you name it. But honestly, leading up to the wedding, they seemed to have figured things out, you know? They looked so happy! It was heartbreaking, because then they just… called it off. Like, ended their whole thing. I still can’t believe it. It just didn’t work out, and it’s so sad after everything.
Sara, who previously told me she didn’t see a future with Ben, explained to him, “Ben, I love you very much, but I’ve always wanted a partner who shares my way of thinking. Because of that, I can’t continue this relationship. I’m truly sorry if that’s not what you wanted to hear.”
She explained that while she deeply cares for him, their core beliefs are too different for a relationship to work. Although it was a difficult decision, she realized they weren’t compatible in the long run.

Devin and Virginia appeared to be a strong couple, looking forward to their future together after leaving the pods. However, their relationship hit a snag when they started discussing a prenuptial agreement.
Ultimately, more significant problems led Virginia to end her relationship with Devin and decide against marrying him.
Fighting back tears after leaving the altar, she explained that she often felt the need to shield Devin throughout their relationship. She wasn’t sure if it was due to her upbringing, but protecting him was always a priority. This meant avoiding certain sensitive subjects, like politics, and respecting his boundaries, even if it meant they didn’t fully explore all aspects of their connection. Ultimately, they didn’t reach a deeper level of understanding in those areas.

Okay, seriously, through all the drama, there was one perfect moment – Daniel and Taylor actually said YES to forever! I mean, after everything, finding love that lasts past Christmas? It’s everything I ever wanted for them! I’m so happy they found their happily ever after!
Despite a rocky start – Taylor thought Daniel had been checking her Instagram and knew what she looked like – they were able to move past it.
After sharing heartfelt vows, the couple had a wonderful wedding and a lively reception to celebrate.
“We did it!” Daniel exclaimed, sitting with Taylor after their wedding. Taylor added, “We’re so excited to begin this new chapter in our lives.”

The art dealer, who later became well-known, proposed to the author of Keeping Well after being involved in a complicated relationship with Hannah Jiles. However, they eventually realized they were better suited as friends and ended their brief engagement.
Okay, so I’ve been following Brittany and Leo forever, and honestly, hearing them talk about it… it just breaks my heart a little! Apparently, they tried, they really did. They even sat down and talked about whether a relationship could work at the very beginning of their trip. But as time went on, they just… didn’t click. It wasn’t some dramatic fallout, though! They’re both so good at talking things out, so they realized it wasn’t meant to be in a really calm, respectful way. It was more of a mutual understanding, which is honestly so mature of them, even if it’s devastating for me as a fan who totally shipped them!
Soon after appearing on a Netflix dating show, Brittany began dating musician Mod Sun in November 2024. However, she announced their breakup in July 2025.

As a relationship expert, I’ve seen plenty of trust broken, and Monica and Stephen’s situation was a tough one. Their relationship really fell apart after a trip to Mexico when Monica discovered some inappropriate messages on Stephen’s phone – messages he’d sent to another woman. It was a huge blow, and they split up pretty quickly after getting home. Stephen did apologize on the show, but he also felt the need to address things further with a post on social media once the episode aired, which tells me he was still trying to process everything and maybe explain his side.
In an October 2024 post on Instagram Stories, he expressed regret if his presence bothered anyone, saying he was sorry if people were upset by him and wished they hadn’t had to start their day feeling that way. He added that he still cared for them regardless.

After leaving the pods, Hannah and Nick definitely experienced their share of challenges and arguments. Hannah famously noted that she felt like an equal only when she contributed equally to the relationship.
Everything fell apart when Hannah realized she didn’t want to marry Nick. He described the split as incredibly painful, saying it was one of the worst moments of his life.
Since then, Hannah has admitted the show forced her to do some self-introspection.
She recently shared that she’s been doing some self-reflection and realized areas where she can improve. Speaking on the The Viall Files podcast, she explained that while she’s always been a direct communicator, she understands her approach can sometimes come across harshly. She’s come to realize that how you say something is just as important as what you say.

Taylor and Garrett had an instant connection – it felt like fate! They quickly fell for each other, and it seemed like marriage was inevitable. They did have one difficult moment when Taylor discovered Garrett had responded to a message from a former girlfriend, but he assured her he quickly reaffirmed his engagement and ended the conversation. After that, their relationship became a beautiful part of the Love Is Blind story.
The pair were still married at the Love Is Blind reunion in October 2024.

You won’t believe this, but despite being a strong couple and early favorites to succeed, Ramses actually called off his wedding to Marissa because he had doubts.
After a serious conversation, Marissa excitedly told her fiancé, “I see a wonderful future with you, and I want to marry you.” He replied, simply, “I know falling in love always carries a risk, and I accept that.”
He pointed out that their disagreements—like their different views on the military—might be too significant to overcome. He explained that, having observed marriages himself, he believes love isn’t always enough for a relationship to succeed. Other important factors need to be in place as well.
Marissa tried to stay strong, but as soon as she realized the relationship was over, she started crying. She told him, “I wish you hadn’t come here.” She was upset and confused, saying, “I thought we were certain, but you’re not? This is awful, I really wanted you to choose me.” She later admitted that it was the worst day of her life.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following Tyler and Ashley’s relationship, and initially, viewers really fell in love with how smoothly things seemed to be going. But things got complicated when Tyler revealed he has three children. Ashley’s reaction, calling them ‘sperm donor babies,’ definitely caused a stir. Honestly, there’s been a lot of talk online about how involved Tyler actually is as a father, but he hasn’t spoken publicly about it yet, which is only adding to the drama.
By the October 2024 reunion show, Ashley and Tyler had resolved their issues, reconnected, and ultimately got married.
Oh my gosh, I was so moved by what Tyler said after the wedding! Seriously, he and Ashley were just glowing, and he said it all started two months ago – two months! It’s like their whole lives shifted then, and now they get to be together forever. It’s the most beautiful thing, I’m telling you, absolutely beautiful!
However, Ashley later shared that the pair had called it quits following over one year of marriage.
In a statement released in January 2025, she announced that she and Tyler have separated and are divorcing. She explained that after a lot of thought, they realized they were growing apart and couldn’t continue their marriage, despite her hopes for a more open and understanding relationship.

Alex and Tim resolved their big disagreement while they were in Mexico, and their relationship seemed stronger than ever when they returned to Washington, D.C. Things got even better when Tim had a heartfelt conversation with Alex’s father, which suggested a promising future for them.
After Alex met Tim’s family, they had another fight, and Tim broke off their engagement, telling Alex he never wanted to see her again. Since then, both Alex and Tim have publicly shared their sides of the story, with Alex clarifying that the breakup wasn’t a joint decision.

Chelsea and Jimmy had a rocky start to the season with a few arguments, but it seemed they’d finally resolved their differences during a fun date at an amusement park just before their wedding.
Jimmy ended his engagement with Chelsea, leaving her shocked and in tears, as he was ready to move on from their turbulent relationship.
You know, I’ve seen this come up a lot in dating. It’s tough when someone is really into you – like, really into you – and lays all their feelings on the line. This guy, Jimmy, basically told Chelsea he’s head-over-heels, wants a relationship, and desperately hopes things will work out. But here’s the catch: he’s absolutely firm on not wanting to get married. It’s a classic case of wanting a deep connection but being completely closed off to the idea of long-term commitment, and that’s a tricky situation for both people involved. It shows a real disconnect in what each person envisions for the future.
He said they were simplifying a complex situation, but it stemmed from several deeply upsetting issues—around five or six of them. One example was Chelsea sharing a private secret about Jimmy and a past relationship.
After one last argument about their past relationships, Chelsea finally left, crying and saying, “I really thought we had a chance.”
The pair were both single during the March 2024 reunion.

Clay was reluctant to marry because of his father’s past infidelity, but AD comforted him, promising they could overcome any challenges together, and things seemed good between them.
When it came time to get married, Clay unexpectedly said he didn’t want to go through with it. He told AD that marrying her wouldn’t be a responsible decision because he wasn’t prepared for such a commitment.
Cue the shock.
Let me tell you, navigating relationships is all about honesty, and I’ve learned that the hard way. I recently had a really important conversation with someone special, and I wanted to be completely upfront. I told her I needed to do some personal work before I could even think about marriage – she deserved nothing less. It wasn’t about her at all; it was about me recognizing I wasn’t ready to give her everything she deserved, and I wouldn’t lead her on. I explained I needed to be completely honest and couldn’t say ‘yes’ to forever right now, but that we could work through things together. It’s tough, but being real is always the best path, even when it’s difficult.
The discovery deeply upset AD, causing her to break down in tears and angrily state that the relationship had been a complete waste of her time.
Clay explained that both financial and emotional connections were major factors in his decision to leave. He honestly admitted, “I had to ask myself if I was still a husband, and the answer was no. I also realized I wasn’t truly in love anymore.”
At the reunion, Clay admitted he regretted not dating AD and asked if she’d ever be open to trying again, but she didn’t give a clear answer.
AD admitted she went on a few dates with her colleague, Matthew Duliba, after they finished filming, but they are no longer seeing each other.
She announced in May 2025 she’s expecting her first baby with fiancé Ollie Sutherland.

Amy and Johnny were the only couple from season six to get married, and their wedding was beautiful! They also blended their families together wonderfully, with Amy’s father even sharing that he now feels like he has several daughters.
As for Johnny, he too declared at his reception that his father-in-law was his “new dad.”
They are still married.

Brittany and Kenneth’s relationship began with a lot of excitement, but it didn’t last after they faced the challenges of everyday life.
Brittany explained to Life & Style that things changed once they left the pods and returned to Charlotte. She felt they had a very strong connection while isolated, but that passion faded a little when they went back to their everyday lives.
Brittany and her former fiancé have stayed friends. She explained when they reunited that even though their romantic relationship ended, they’ll always share a strong connection.

Laura and Jeramey broke up after Laura discovered Jeramey had spent time with a fellow castmate, Sarah Ann Bick, while they were out one night. Following a heated argument, Laura ended the relationship.
But instead of that, he went off to ride jet skis with Sarah Ann.
At the reunion in March 2024, Jeramey shared that he and Sarah Ann had been dating on and off for a year, starting after the show finished filming, but they are no longer together.
Laura is dating someone else, who she did not identify at the reunion.

Despite overcoming challenges like Izzy’s initial connection with Johnie Maraist and Stacy’s desire for a certain lifestyle (she really didn’t want paper plates!), Stacy ultimately decided not to marry Izzy because he wasn’t truthful about his financial history.
Even though their wedding didn’t happen, Stacy still wanted to continue her relationship with Izzy, who was very upset.
“We’re at different spots,” he told her. “It really breaks my heart.”
Stacy appreciated Izzy helping her become more open with her feelings, but she wasn’t sure about a long-term future with him. She said she needed to be completely certain before committing to a lifetime together, and ‘fairly certain’ just wasn’t enough.
Izzy is now dating surgical assistant Shelby Webb.
