Sean Bean is celebrating a major success in 2026, which comes at a perfect time for the popular actor.
Rowan Atkinson, known for his diverse acting roles, has frequently appeared in fantasy projects, including both The Lord of the Rings and HBO’s Game of Thrones. Now, one of his most popular works is gaining renewed attention thanks to streaming platforms.
The TV series Robin Hood, available on MGM+, is currently popular again on streaming charts in 2026. After finishing its first season in 2025, this darker take on the classic story has climbed to the #3 spot on the platform in the U.S.
The show is quickly gaining popularity on MGM+ internationally, currently ranking as the most-watched program in Germany, and among the top ten in Spain, England, and Italy. Sean Bean stars as the Sheriff of Nottingham, while Jack Patten plays the newest version of Robin Hood.
Production for season 2 of Robin Hood will begin this summer at PFI Studios in Serbia. The show was renewed just a few months after the first season concluded in December 2025, and a new release date is expected sometime in 2027.
Season 2 of Robin Hood takes the action beyond Sherwood Forest and Nottingham, venturing into the dangerous political landscapes of England, France, and Rome. The stakes are higher than ever as the rebellion becomes a fight for the future of the kingdom. With the Angevin empire on the brink of collapse, Robin and Marian find themselves navigating the world of royalty and forced to use tactics like political maneuvering, wealth, and deception to protect the Saxons.
Season two of Robin Hood starts with the characters struggling to survive, but quickly evolves into a story about the dangers of power. This season expands on the relationships and conflicts from the first, presenting a dramatic and emotional reimagining of the classic legend, focusing on themes of love, what people leave behind, and the consequences of becoming famous.
As of today, the first season of Robin Hood has a 77% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 80% audience score. The series was created by Jonathan English and John Glenn, with English also directing several episodes and Glenn overseeing the show as its showrunner.
The cast of Robin Hood includes Lauren McQueen as Marian, Lydia Peckham as Priscilla, and Marcus Fraser as John Nailer. Angus Castle-Doughty plays Friar Tuck, Steven Waddington is the Earl of Huntingdon, Connie Nielsen appears as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, and Henry Rowley plays Will Gamewell. Details about season two are still under wraps, but more information will be released as filming begins.
