Fans got their first glimpse of the upcoming HBO Max series, Lanterns, back in March. While the show had been compared to True Detective, the initial trailer surprised some viewers with its realistic, crime-drama approach, seemingly minimizing the fantastical elements of the comic books. The trailer focused heavily on the relationship between Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart, but showed very little of the Green Lantern powers fans anticipated. Now, with the August release date nearing, DC Studios is releasing new promotional material that finally showcases some superhero action.
James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, revealed on Instagram that a new trailer for Lanterns is coming out tomorrow, May 18th. He shared a few quick clips to build excitement, including a glimpse of Hal Jordan using his powers to stop a dangerous situation. You can see Gunn’s post below.
