Splitgate Developer’s Next Game is Empulse, Features Titanfall-Like Mechs – Rumor

After the less-than-successful launches of Splitgate 2 and its revamped version, Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, 1047 Games revealed they were developing a new game. This new shooter focuses on fast movement and takes inspiration from games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Titanfall. However, according to a recent report from gaming insider Tom Henderson, it’s drawing much more heavily from Titanfall than previously thought.

The upcoming shooter, currently called Empulse (though the name could change), will reportedly feature large mechs on the map. These mechs are said to be very similar to the Titans from Respawn Entertainment’s games. Early gameplay footage seen by one source showed a mech equipped with a gatling gun, missile launcher, and shield.

We don’t know how many different types of mechs there will be. The game will likely feature Team Deathmatch, and in addition to speed boosts, players can use grappling hooks and wall-running to get around.

I’ve been following the development news since it was announced last March, and it sounds like we’re finally getting an announcement later this year! I’m hoping it’ll be around The Game Awards, though it could be at Summer Game Fest on June 5th. Honestly, I’m just crossing my fingers that 1047 Games learned from the rough launch of Splitgate 2 and this time everything goes smoothly.

Splitgate: Arena Reloaded is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. While it once had over 2,200 players online at the same time on Steam, it hasn’t reached 1,000 concurrent players since February 2nd, indicating a significant drop in popularity compared to the launch of Splitgate 2.
