RPG fans with Xbox Game Pass have a tough day ahead on May 31st. Several highly-rated RPGs will be leaving the Game Pass library on both Xbox Series X and PC. Because these games are quite lengthy, players who want to finish them will face a real challenge, especially if they hope to complete both before they’re removed.
Two popular RPGs will be leaving Xbox Game Pass in about two weeks. The first is Metaphor: ReFantazio, a critically acclaimed 2024 release from Studio Zero and Atlus, earning a 94 on Metacritic and three awards at The Game Awards for its role-playing, narrative, and art style. The second game departing on May 31st is Persona 4, a remastered version of the 2008 classic from Atlus. Like Metaphor: ReFantazio, Persona 4 Golden is considered one of the best RPGs of its time, boasting a 93 on Metacritic.

If you’re thinking of trying Metaphor: ReFantazio before it’s removed from Xbox Game Pass, you should set aside a good chunk of time. The main story alone will take around 60 to 70 hours to finish. If you want to explore optional quests and content, plan for 85 to 90 hours. And for players who like to complete everything, you’re looking at around 100 hours with this fantasy RPG.
Persona 4 Golden
Persona 4 Golden is a lengthy game, likely forcing Xbox Game Pass subscribers to choose between it and another title. A typical playthrough takes 65 to 70 hours, and even more—around 80 to 85 hours—if you explore optional content. While Metaphor: ReFantazio has a fairly standard completion time, Persona 4 Golden requires a significantly larger commitment, taking completionists approximately 130 to 135 hours.
