I’m so excited! David Mitchell and Robert Webb are starting a YouTube channel! It’s amazing news because it means more people will be able to see their brilliant comedy – they’re taking their Channel 4 sketches to a whole new audience.
Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping premiered on Channel 4 last year, bringing the comedic duo back to the style of show that first made them famous on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Two in the 2000s.
I’m really excited about this new comedy group! They’ve teamed up with Kiell Smith-Bynoe, who I loved on ‘Ghosts,’ plus some seriously funny up-and-comers like Stevie Martin, Krystal Evans, and Lara Ricote. They’re aiming to bring some fresh energy to sketch comedy, which honestly, felt like it needed a boost.
Channel 4 confirmed that Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping was their most popular new comedy series in six years, showing strong appreciation for the show’s creators.
Season two is coming soon, and this time it’ll be available on both Channel 4 and YouTube. This wider release is designed to reach a global audience and bring in new viewers (according to Deadline).

Besides sharing individual sketches, the YouTube channel will also feature a new podcast called ‘Mitchell and Webb Talk About Some Sketches in a Pretend Room,’ often referred to as ‘The Pretend Room.’
This special show will feature the comedy duo revisiting their most memorable sketches from Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, sharing the stories behind how they came up with the ideas and created them.
We’d really appreciate it if you subscribed! It helps more people find our videos through search engines, and that’s something we’re always working towards.
Mitchell and Webb are now on YouTube, following the impressive online success of Saturday Night Live UK. That show quickly gained a huge following on social media, far exceeding the number of people who watched it initially on Sky One and NOW.

Mitchell and Webb’s latest project joins a growing trend of broadcasters using YouTube to reach new audiences. For example, Channel 4.0, which focuses on young viewers and works with online influencers, has already gained over a million followers since it launched in October 2022.
Kenton Allen, the executive producer of Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, explained that even before streaming and social media changed how people consume content, Mitchell and Webb were making sketches that viewers loved to repeat, share, and revisit.
There’s huge worldwide interest in this material, and we want this channel to be the place to celebrate one of Britain’s most beloved comedy duos.
Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping is available on Channel 4. Season 2 is coming soon.

As someone who lives and breathes TV and film, I’ve been following David Craig’s work for a while now. He’s currently the Senior Drama Writer at TopMob, which basically means he’s one of the people keeping me up-to-date on all the best new dramas and comedies hitting our screens. Before that, he was writing for Starburst Magazine and even hosted a podcast called The Winter King for ITVX – clearly a seasoned pro! He honed his skills studying Journalism at the University of Sheffield, so he really knows his stuff.
