The search for the next James Bond is officially on, and we’ve just gotten some interesting news about the script for the 26th Bond film.
Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders and confirmed writer for the upcoming film, is currently researching the movie by talking to members of the SAS and other highly confidential special forces groups.
He explained in an interview with Screen that he was discussing the everyday realities of their work, emphasizing its authenticity: “It’s all real.”
He added that Fleming was a truly gifted writer, and that understanding people is essential for anyone who wants to write well.

Regarding how to update such a well-known character – one who’s been a movie favorite for over sixty years – he said James Bond is resilient and that it’s okay to try a fresh approach without fear of failure.
He explained that the character has endured because, despite many changes and imperfections, its fundamental essence remains strong and untouchable – it’s become a legend.
Knight expressed similar thoughts a few months ago while speaking with The TopMob Writer’s Room, drawing parallels between Bond and legendary figures like Robin Hood and King Arthur, and relating them to both British and global culture.
Knight shared that he’s really enjoying writing the script, but understandably kept details under wraps – he even avoided naming his favorite Bond movies to prevent giving away any hints about his approach.
Speaking at CinemaCon last month, Courtenay Valenti, head of film at Amazon MGM Studios, described the upcoming Bond film as a project with huge potential. She highlighted the combination of the iconic Bond franchise with a talented creative team – including director Denis Villeneuve, producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, executive producer Tanya Lapointe, and screenwriter Steven Knight – as a recipe for a film that will honor the Bond legacy.
