George Shuttleworth, played by Tony Maudsley, strongly believes he’s figured out who was responsible for Theo Silverton’s death on Coronation Street.
Last month, the man who had been abusive was found dead behind the local corner shop, which led to a major murder investigation. George was among the first people investigators questioned, as Theo’s blood was discovered on his sweater.
He also spent a significant amount of the evening walking by himself. Soon after, his partner, Christina Boyd, played by Amy Robbins, was brought in for questioning to confirm his account of events.
The police in Weatherfield didn’t have enough proof to arrest the initial suspect, so they began to focus on Gary Windass. He had damaged Theo’s van and sent him a threatening text shortly before Theo died.
Luckily, his wife, Maria Connor (played by Samia Longchambon), created an alibi, claiming they were together that night.

Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) seemed very disturbed earlier this week when police informed Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) they were getting close to identifying the killer. She had previously said she planned to study at a university in America, and this could raise suspicions if the police discover her plans.
Little did she realise, there was already some evidence coming to light…
George discovered a journal revealing the woman’s plan to shoot Theo. He and Christina were horrified as they read it, but they were discovered while looking through her things.
Summer was absolutely furious when she discovered someone had been reading her private diary. In a swift act, she threw the book into the fire, making sure it was completely destroyed.
The next day, police asked Summer to come in for a chat at the station, but it wasn’t about the journal. Detective Sergeant Lisa Connor-Swain noticed something in Summer’s wedding photos – a brooch Summer was wearing that had been discovered in Theo’s apartment.
She claimed she had no idea how it ended up there, and when she went back inside, she tried to convince George that this was true.

He didn’t believe her, especially since witnesses had seen her fleeing the area where the crime happened.
On today’s show, Summer hinted to George that he could be to blame, and then angrily confronted her friends, Asha and Nina, about what they were saying. Gary intervened to calm things down and took her to the builder’s yard for a cup of tea.
George was worried about Christina’s return to the station. Security camera footage proved she hadn’t been where she said she was – instead of collecting Todd from Inkerman Street, she was actually in the town of Hyde, and she’d been dishonest about it.

To avoid further upsetting George, she explained that she’d slightly misspoken before and had clarified the details with Lisa.
She attempted to change the subject by pressing him to reveal what he’d witnessed Summer doing the night Theo passed away. He hesitated, but a chance encounter with the detective near the Rovers prompted him to tell the truth.
Will George’s claims lead to an arrest?
