Berserk Finally Announces Its Return

It’s been nearly a year since we last followed Guts and the world of Berserk in Young Animal magazine, and fans have been eagerly awaiting updates. The last time we saw the Black Swordsman, he was facing a difficult situation inside a magical cave, leaving many readers wondering about his return. Fortunately, a recent announcement has revealed the release date for Chapter 384, which will bring us back to the Kushan Empire. With Guts grappling with intense emotional challenges, this next chapter promises to be a significant one.

The latest issue of Young Animal magazine announced that chapter 384 of Berserk will be released on June 12th. While the release date for chapter 385 hasn’t been announced yet, it’s still a positive sign for the series’ continuation, as writer Kouji Mori and Studio Gaga are still developing the story of Guts. However, there’s currently no news about a new anime adaptation. Since the Berserk: Memorial Edition finished in 2022, no new anime projects have been confirmed, but fans are hoping to see the Band of the Hawk animated again someday.

When Last We Left Berserk

If you need a refresher on what Guts and his companions have been doing in Berserk, things were looking pretty bad for them. Even though the Kushan Empire seemed like potential allies, they were uneasy about the brand on Guts’s neck. Suspecting he was controlled by the Godhand, Kushan’s soldiers imprisoned him in a cave that no one has ever escaped from.

This couldn’t have happened at a worse moment for Guts. As fans of Berserk know from recent events, he’s been deeply troubled since Casca was taken. He was almost paralyzed by his emotions when he was trapped in the cave, and now he’ll have to fight both his inner demons and physical dangers to escape and survive. And on top of all that, Griffith and his new crew are plotting something dangerous.

Earlier this year, Kouji Mori, the writer of Berserk, gave fans an update on the manga’s progress following the passing of creator Kentaro Miura. He assured fans that work on Berserk would continue as a tribute, saying he’s committed to both his own work and overseeing the series. He also clarified that he won’t be drawing the main character, Guts, but acknowledged how challenging Guts is to draw, praising the artist Kurosaki for their skill.
