Onimusha: Way of the Sword is “Well On-Track” for 2026 Launch – Rumor

Capcom has had a fantastic year, with huge hits like Resident Evil Requiem selling seven million copies and Pragmata reaching two million in sales. While a release date hasn’t been announced yet, industry insider NateTheHate reports that their next big game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, is still expected to launch this year.

Capcom hasn’t suggested any problems, and it’s encouraging to hear development is proceeding smoothly. We might see a release date announced at either the next State of Play on June 2nd, or at the Summer Game Fest showcase on June 5th. Capcom has regularly featured content in both events, so either one is a likely possibility.

So, when can we expect the release? July or August are likely possibilities, as the developers said they were in the final stages of development back in March. September might be risky because of competition from other major games like Marvel’s Wolverine, Phantom Blade Zero, and The Blood of Dawnwalker. October is rumored to be when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 comes out, and November is almost certainly off the table due to the release of Grand Theft Auto 6.

We’ll share more details soon, but you can get a first look at gameplay with a walkthrough of an early mission here. You can also find out more about the challenges Musashi encounters after receiving the Oni Gauntlet here.
