Colin Jost Doubles Down on Being Scarlett Johansson’s Plus One

Colin Jost is happy with his marriage story.

Beyond the financial perks, the 43-year-old shared what he enjoys most about having a lower profile than his wife, Scarlett Johansson.

Colin explained to Carson Daly on the Today show on May 20th that he just tries to keep his expectations low, saying you can simply acknowledge a situation with a casual, ‘Hey, what’s up? I’m here too.’

The Avengers star, who has a 4-year-old child named Cosmo and an 11-year-old named Rose from a previous relationship, has been acting since she was young. Because of this, she’s been in the public eye much longer than the Saturday Night Live performer.

Colin doesn’t seem to mind being the ‘plus one’ when attending events with actress Scarlett Johansson. He’s in good company, though – Travis Kelce, who is engaged to Taylor Swift, often finds himself in the same position. Kelce even jokingly asked Colin on his podcast, New Heights, how enjoyable it is to be the less famous partner in a relationship.

With a laugh, Colin responded, “Huge relief. Really.”

It’s SO unfair, but Colin actually gets recognized way more than his wife! He says it’s all because of Saturday Night Live. Apparently, people feel like they know him, like he’s just hanging out in their living room with them. He explained it’s easier for fans to come up and say hi to him because he’s been on TV for so long, while his wife seems a little more… intimidating, I guess? It’s just wild to me that being on TV makes you instantly more approachable, but I totally get it! I’d probably be a blubbering mess if I met him.

He describes his wife, Scarlett, whom he married in 2020, as being so well-known that people sometimes don’t believe it when they meet her. He’s even said that strangers often mistake her for someone who just looks like actress Scarlett Johansson.

Colin remembered one time, while they were traveling, someone at passport control said to his companion, “You look just like Scarlett Johansson!” He asked genuinely, seemingly not connecting the face in front of him with the actress, and added, “It would be even stranger if it was her.”
