Sony to Show Latest State of Play in Theatres for First Time Since 2018

Sony will be showing its next “State of Play” presentation in movie theaters across the U.S. This is the first time they’ve broadcast one of their events on the big screen since E3 2018.

So, I heard Alamo Drafthouses are doing something cool for us fans! They’re opening up and having special events with a menu of themed food and drinks – think stuff that really fits the vibe. Plus, they’re giving away exclusive goodies, which is awesome!

Locations include:

  • Raleigh
  • Los Angeles
  • San Francisco Bay Area
  • Chicago
  • Dallas
  • New York City

The playful mention of ‘claw’ hints at the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine game, which will be showcased first. Throughout the livestream – lasting over an hour – PlayStation will also share news about other games from both their own studios and partner developers.

Sony Pictures bought Alamo Drafthouse in 2024, so the synergy makes sense here.

These movie theaters are famous for having strict rules about behavior and offering great food, so we expect the snacks at the State of Play event will be good too.

It seems like most tickets are already sold, so if you haven’t gotten yours yet, it’s likely too late.

I don’t think this necessarily means the State of Play will be impressive – that’s really a matter of opinion – but it does show Sony is putting effort into it. It was likely a simple thing to arrange, though, since they already own the movie theater.

Honestly, it’s awesome to see them finally doing a fan event again. Their community support has been seriously lacking since this console generation started, and I really hope they keep doing more events like this all over the globe. It’s what we, as players, really want!
