Crunchyroll boss responds to question about the Solo Leveling season 3 release date

Solo Leveling season 2 left fans with a lot of questions that needed answered – and now it’s looking hopeful we’ll finally get them.

While season 3 of Jinwoo’s story is yet to be officially confirmed, bosses at Crunchyroll have been teasing that wheels are in motion that could see the show finally back on our screens.

In an exclusive chat with TopMob, Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini has given the biggest sign yet that the show is heading in the right direction to return.

While he was keen to note there was “nothing to announce”, Purini said he was “hopeful” for Solo Leveling’s return.

He said: “We are just as eager as the fans for the next show! We know the creators are actively working on it, so hopefully we can announce something soon.”

His comments come after the show’s producer Atsushi Kaneko also teased there was progress towards the series return during a panel at Mumbai Comic Con last weekend.

Speaking via a translator, Kaneko noted he had “a lot of plans for the future” before adding: “Right now, all he can say is working very hard for it.”

While he was also unable to officially confirm Solo Leveling’s third season, the translator added: “He will live up to everybody’s expectations and is working hard on it, but please give us a little bit of time.”

Solo Leveling season 2 became arguably the biggest anime release of 2025, as the medium continues to grow a devout fanbase.

The season ended with Jinwoo fighting and defeating the Ant King, before remaining on Jeju Island, eliminating all the ants that are left, reaching the 100th level in the process.

After, he decides to use shadow extraction on the Ant King’s Corpse, named Beru, who’s already showing a devoted loyalty to Jinwoo as one of the strongest soldiers in his shadow army.

But season 2 ended on a cliffhanger, with powerful new monsters emerging who seem to be following someone yet to be seen.

Crunchyroll remains the biggest streaming service in the world devoted to Japanese releases, with exclusive rights to thousands of episodes of anime’s biggest shows – and it’s only going to get bigger.

For those looking for something to watch while we wait for Solo Leveling news, Purini shared with us his biggest shows we should be keeping an eye on in the meantime.

“I think Demons of the Shadow Realm is one, and Witch Hat Atelier,” he told us. “There’s a lot.”

“2025 was an amazing year. We started off with Solo Leveling. Then we had the Demon Slayer theatrical release, we had Chainsaw Man… Great shows earlier this year, we started off with Jujutsu Kaisen, the next season.

“We are currently active in this season with two shows that I’m really excited for, Demons of the Shadow Realm, again, a huge manga hit, amazing anime, that show will continue throughout the year this year, and I’m excited for that.

“There’s another show this season called Witch Hat Atelier, a Kodansha manga, amazing animation, beautiful, beautiful characters and animation and story that I’m really excited for. We’ve announced another show that we are getting, a show called Black Torch in July. So again, I can’t wait for fans to see that show.

“So there’s a lot coming, but we’re very excited for all of those shows.”

Solo Leveling is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
