New PS5 RPG Gets Delayed to 2027 Just One Week Before Release

A role-playing game previously scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 next week has been unexpectedly delayed until 2027. While game delays are common, it’s unusual for a release date to be pushed back so close to launch. This late change is sure to disappoint fans who were looking forward to playing the game soon.

Cloud Leopared Entertainment and Spiral Up Games announced this week that the RPG Wandering Sword will now be released in early 2027. The game, which first came out on PC in 2023, is designed with a retro style similar to Square Enix’s HD-2D games. Console players have been looking forward to Wandering Sword for a while, and while a PS5 release was scheduled for May 28th, it has now been delayed to January 21, 2027.

The announcement explained that they’re very sorry for the delay and any frustration it causes players who were excited about the game’s release. The team is dedicated to making the game as good as possible and appreciates everyone’s patience.

The delay appears to be because the publishers want to release Wandering Sword on all consoles simultaneously. While Nintendo Switch and the next-generation Switch were planned to receive the game, they weren’t expected until late 2026. Now, all versions – including those for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch – will launch together in January 2027.

It’s definitely a letdown for PS5 players who were looking forward to Wandering Sword. While the delay might ultimately improve the game, it’s frustrating to see it happen so late in development.
