If you want to collect a lot of studs—the in-game currency—in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, learning how the Stud Multiplier works is key.
This feature increases the number of in-game studs you earn, and combining multiple boosts is the best way to quickly build up your wealth.
Here’s a complete guide to the Stud Multiplier, including how it works and its maximum potential.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Stud Multiplier explained
In LEGO Batman: LOTDK, collecting studs will raise your Stud Multiplier, which you can see displayed in the top-right corner of the screen.
As you gather more Studs, your multiplier will increase – first to 2x, then 3x, and finally reaching a maximum of 4x.

This means each stud you collect will actually give you two, three, or even four times the normal amount.
If you don’t collect studs for a while, your Stud Multiplier will gradually decrease until it returns to its base value of 1x.

At the beginning of the game, the highest possible multiplier you can achieve is x2. To unlock the x3 and x4 multipliers, you’ll need to buy the two ‘Hyper Combo’ skills from the Exploration skill tree.
You can also buy skills like Speedy Stud Combo to make your Stud Multiplier increase faster, and Stud Combo Duration to keep it from dropping as quickly.
After unlocking all the upgrades, achieving and maintaining a 4x Stud Multiplier becomes quite simple, particularly in levels with plenty of opportunities to find studs.
