
More information is coming to light about Kyle Busch’s tragic passing.
According to sources who spoke with the Associated Press, the NASCAR driver lost consciousness while testing in a Chevrolet racing simulator in Concord, North Carolina, just one day before his death at age 41.
According to the Associated Press, Busch stopped responding and was rushed to a hospital in Charlotte. The reason for his death is currently unknown.
A little more than a week before he passed away, Busch asked a doctor to check him out after his race at Watkins Glen International on May 10th.
Busch requested someone find Bill Heisel, describing him as the team doctor, in a radio message posted on X by FOX: NASCAR. He asked that Heisel be available after the race.
Kurt Busch, battling a sinus cold during the race, mentioned he’d need an injection, but didn’t specify what it was for.
Nearly two weeks later, Busch’s family shared a concerning update on his health.
Kyle is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment for a serious illness. As a result, he won’t be able to participate in any events at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. His family asks for privacy and understanding during this difficult time.
After several hours, NASCAR announced the death of the driver, who had an impressive record of 234 national series wins. The organization expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

He wasn’t just talented; he raced with incredible fire and passion, and you could tell how much he loved the sport and all of us fans. Over more than twenty years, he didn’t just break records in every series, he won championships at NASCAR’s highest level, and he even dedicated himself to helping the next generation of drivers succeed through his Truck Series team. He’s a legend, and a future Hall of Famer, without a doubt.
NASCAR said his quick humor and drive to win made a strong connection with fans of all ages, building a dedicated group known as ‘Rowdy Nation.’ The racing world mourns the loss of a true legend, taken far too soon.
Kurt Busch’s fellow racers have also expressed their shock and grief over his passing. He is survived by his wife, Samantha Busch, and their two children, Brexton, 11, and Lennix, 4.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. shared on X that Kyle was not only a legendary NASCAR driver, but also a beloved family member and friend. He expressed deep sadness for the Busch family, saying he’s heartbroken and struggling to understand this tragic loss.
USA Sports, too, mourned Busch’s passing.

In February 2026, Kyle celebrated his win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Fr8 Racing 208 at Echo Park Speedway with Samantha, Brexton, and Lennix in Victory Lane.

Kyle shared a tender moment with his youngest at the NASCAR Cup Series Food City Dirt Race in 2023.

Kyle, Samantha, and Brexton went to the stadium to watch the Las Vegas Raiders play the Denver Broncos.

The quartet had recently enjoyed a snowy family vacation.

Kyle and Samantha always made sure Brexton was with them for all of their important celebrations.

Kyle cherished creating special moments with his wife, Samantha, and their son, Brexton, whether they were at the Texas racetrack or back home in Las Vegas.

Samantha shared a sweet message on Instagram for Valentine’s Day, calling her partner her ‘forever valentine.’ She thanked them for always bringing joy and helping her enjoy life, and finished with a heartfelt ‘I love you!’

Samantha celebrated her son Brexton’s successful racing season on Instagram, writing, “Congrats Brexton on a great season at Millbridge Speedway! We’re so proud of how much you’ve grown and improved, especially winning your first Saturday Night Series Championship! We’re excited to see what you accomplish next!”

Samantha and Kyle opted for cute matching leather jackets.

Kyle shared on Instagram about enjoying a fun playdate at the @bundleofjoyfund and finding amazing pumpkins with @samanthabusch and @brextonbusch. He called them “the most perfect pumpkins in the patch!”

Kyle and Samantha Busch took a trip to Las Vegas, and Kyle shared a photo on Instagram celebrating their time together, writing, “I hit the jackpot with you @samanthabusch.”

A newborn Brexton joined his mom and dad on stage at the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards.

Life wasn’t all work and no play for Kyle. In fact, he loved vacations with his family.

Kyle and his family celebrate one of his many NASCAR wins with a trip Disney World.

Kyle shared a flirty message on Instagram – “Hey pretty baby with the high heels on” – while at La Belle Helene Restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In May 2021, Kyle won the NASCAR Xfinity Series Pit Boss 250 race. To celebrate his win in Austin, Texas, his wife Samantha and son Brexton joined him in victory lane.
