Donald Trump Confirms Skipping Son Donald Trump Jr.’s Wedding

Donald Trump is staying put at the White House this weekend.

Just before his son, Donald Trump Jr., was set to marry Bettina Anderson, the 79-year-old revealed the reason he couldn’t attend the wedding.

“While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina,” Trump wrote in one of many Truth Social posts shared on May 22, “circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so.”

Trump stated he believes it’s crucial to stay at the White House in Washington, D.C. during this time, and ended with a congratulatory message to Don and Bettina.

I’m so excited for Don Jr.! I just heard that his wedding to Bettina is planned for a beautiful little island in the Bahamas over Memorial Day Weekend 2026. But here’s a fun surprise – they actually made it official legally on May 21st! Apparently, they didn’t want to wait for the big ceremony. It was a really intimate affair, with Bettina’s twin sister, Kristina Anderson McPherson, as their witness, according to People magazine. It’s just wonderful news!

This marks Donald Trump Jr.’s second marriage. He was previously with Vanessa Trump for 12 years and they share five children: Kai, 19, Donald III, 17, Tristan, 14, Spencer, 13, and Chloe, 11. The couple divorced in 2018.

Don Jr. and Vanessa Trump announced after 12 years of marriage that they are divorcing. They released a joint statement saying they have a lot of respect for each other and their families, and that their five children are their main focus. They asked for privacy as they go through this process. Vanessa is currently dating Tiger Woods.

After his divorce from Vanessa, he dated Kimberly Guilfoyle, and they even became engaged in 2022. However, their relationship ended in 2024. By Christmas 2025, he had moved on and was seeing Bettina, around the time news of his split from Kimberly became public.

Don Jr. jokingly admitted he’s usually quite talkative, especially when expressing strong opinions. However, he said he was a little speechless while announcing his engagement to Bettina at the White House holiday party. He then wished everyone a happy holiday season and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

For her part, the 39-year-old was equally as overjoyed.

“I’m marrying the man I love,” Bettina shared, “and I feel incredibly lucky.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always been fascinated by compelling life stories, and Ivana Trump’s was certainly that. Born in what is now the Czech Republic in 1949, she was a talented skier who gained the freedom to travel extensively after marrying Austrian ski instructor Alfred Winklmayr. She eventually came to New York in the early 70s, where she met Donald Trump. Their whirlwind romance led to marriage in 1977 and three children – Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric.

Their marriage ultimately ended in a highly publicized divorce in 1992, fueled by Donald’s affair with Marla Maples. Despite the difficult circumstances, Ivana always maintained a surprisingly amicable relationship with her ex-husband. She even spoke openly about how he approached the divorce as a business transaction, needing to ‘win’ at all costs, but ultimately they were able to rebuild a friendship.

Ivana went on to marry twice more – Riccardo Mazzucchelli and Rossano Rubicondi – but neither union lasted long. Sadly, she passed away in 2022 at the age of 73. The Medical Examiner determined her death was accidental, resulting from injuries sustained in a fall at her New York apartment. Her life was a testament to resilience and maintaining grace under pressure.

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of Ivana and Donald Trump, was born in 1977. He earned a degree in finance and real estate from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in 2000 and joined his father’s company, The Trump Organization, in 2001. He currently holds the position of executive vice president there.

In addition to his work with The Trump Organization, Don Jr. is a director for Trump Media & Technology Group Corp, PublicSquare Holdings, and 1789 Capital. He has also been a visible supporter of his father’s political campaigns, speaking at rallies and the Republican National Convention.

Don Jr. and his ex-wife, model Vanessa Haydon, have five children: Kai (who spoke at the 2024 Republican National Convention), Donald III, Tristan, Spencer, and Chloe.

Don Jr. was previously engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, but they have since ended their engagement, remaining close friends. He has since been linked to Bettina Anderson. Vanessa Haydon is currently dating Tiger Woods.

Four years after Don Jr. was born, Donald and Ivana Trump welcomed their daughter, Ivanka. Before her father became president, Ivanka worked at The Trump Organization. When he was elected in 2016, she shifted her focus and became an Advisor to the President, after having launched her own fashion brand.

Following her father’s announcement that he would run for president again in 2024, Ivanka stated she would be leaving politics to concentrate on her family—her husband, Jared Kushner, and their children, Arabella, Joseph, and Theodore.

In a 2022 statement to NBC News, she explained, “I love my father very much,” but that she was choosing to prioritize her young children and family life and would not be involved in the political arena this time around.

Eric Trump was born in 1984 and is the third child of Ivana and Donald Trump. He earned a degree in finance and management from Georgetown University.

Following in his brother’s footsteps, Eric joined The Trump Organization in 2007 and currently serves as an executive vice president. He also leads Trump Winery.

Eric is married to Lara Trump, who is a co-chair of the Republican National Committee, and they have two children, Luke and Carolina.

Marla Maples is Donald’s second wife, whom he met while still married to Ivana.

Oh my god, it’s just so fascinating! Ivana claimed Marla actually went to her during a trip to Aspen in ’89 to talk about Donald! But Marla, bless her heart, always insists she wasn’t a mistress. She said in an interview a few years ago that she never meant to cause anyone pain, and honestly, I believe her! She wishes things had happened after the divorce was final – can you imagine how much drama would have been avoided if she’d just seen the papers first? It’s heartbreaking! They had Tiffany in ’93, which is just lovely, and they did get married that same year. Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be. They announced they were separating in ’97 and the divorce was finalized in ’99. It’s just… a whole saga, and I’m completely obsessed with every detail!

Following her parents’ divorce, Tiffany Trump moved to California with her mother, who wanted to give her a more normal upbringing away from the intense public attention. Tiffany explained that her mother wanted her to develop her own identity and avoid the pressures of growing up in the spotlight.

Tiffany pursued her education, releasing the single “Like a Bird” in 2011 and earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016, with a focus on law and society. She continued her studies at Georgetown Law School, graduating with a law degree in 2020.

In 2022, she married Michael Boulos. In October 2024, her father announced they were expecting their first child, praising her as an exceptional young woman. Their son, Alexander Trump Boulos, was born on May 15, 2025. Tiffany shared the news on social media, expressing her immense love for her “sweet baby boy” and welcoming him into their lives.

Melania Trump is Donald Trump’s third wife and currently serves as First Lady of the United States. Born in Slovenia in 1970, she is only the second First Lady born outside of the U.S., and the first to become a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Melania met Donald in New York City in 1996 while working as a model. She remembers meeting him at a fashion party during Fashion Week, as she shared in a 2016 interview.

They married in 2005 and had a son, Barron Trump, the following year.

In 2024, Melania released her memoir, also titled Melania, and is featured in an upcoming documentary. She has also discussed how she plans to spend her time if her husband is elected to a second term.

Oh my gosh, she said she’ll be at the White House! I was watching Fox & Friends – seriously, I never miss it when she’s on – and she explained it all. She’ll be wherever she needs to be – New York, Palm Beach, and the White House, of course! But the sweetest part? She said being a mom, First Lady, and wife comes first. Then, after the 20th, it’s all about serving our country. It’s just…everything she says is perfect, honestly.

Barron Trump, born in 2006, is the only child of Donald and Melania Trump. He’s generally maintained a private life, moving from New York to Washington D.C. and then Florida with his parents. In May 2024, he was chosen as a delegate to the Republican National Convention from Florida, but he decided not to participate, citing prior commitments.

Those commitments likely include his studies, as Barron began his freshman year at New York University’s Stern School of Business in 2024. His father mentioned he had been accepted to several colleges, praising his intelligence.

Despite his busy schedule, Barron plans to visit his family at the White House and was present for his father’s inauguration ceremony in January 2025, as his mother shared in an interview.
