It’s time to spill the beans aboutwhat Steven Anthony Lawrence has been up to since his Disney days.
Shia LaBeouf recently made a return to television, testing his knowledge on the May 20th episode of FOX’s game show, The Floor. The actor, known for his role in Even Stevens, competed in a trivia challenge.
Steven, who many remember as Bernard “Beans” Aranguren from the Disney Channel show that aired from 2001 to 2003, first tried out in the Renaissance Faire competition. He told host Rob Lowe that he was interested in it because he enjoys cosplay and has even played an elf in past Hollywood roles.
Despite doing well for most of the competition, the 35-year-old didn’t have enough time to finish the final round, and he was eliminated.
Since his time as a child actor, Steven has generally lived a private life. However, he still looks back fondly on his role as Beans in Even Stevens, particularly because he felt very involved in developing the character.
He explained to Vice in 2021 that he used to have a habit as a child: he’d always finish auditions with a joke.
He remembered telling a joke to a producer on the set of Even Stevens. To his surprise, the joke ended up written into the script for the next audition. He thought to himself, ‘I really hope I get this role, because it would be so embarrassing if my joke made it in and I didn’t!’
Fortunately, he landed the part and was quickly promoted from a guest appearance to a main cast member. He explained that the writers kept including him in more and more episodes.

He paused his career in the early 2010s to care for his father, who was battling cancer, until his father’s passing.
He explained that being a caregiver requires hands-on tasks like changing diapers, which simply isn’t possible to do while attending auditions. It’s a physical limitation – you can’t be in two places at once.
As for now, he’s happy to engage with anyone who remembers him from his Even Stevens days.
“Most people are kind of simple,” Steven said. “They want the selfie and then they bounce.”

Following a serious heart attack in 2019, the actor best known for The Mask of Zorro returned to his hometown of Málaga, Spain, to dedicate himself to performing in the theater.
In March 2026, Antonio told The Times that the experience completely changed his perspective on life. Confronting his own mortality led him to recognize his true identity as an actor.
The Tony Award nominee, who still acts in TV and movies sometimes, now owns a theater and actively participates in local events.
He went on, saying he’d never felt happier. Staying connected to his community – his roots, his neighbors, and the people he grew up with – meant everything to him. Over the years, that connection hadn’t faded at all; in fact, it had grown stronger.

After 19 seasons, The Ellen DeGeneres Show ended in 2022 following accusations of a negative and harmful workplace. These claims led to an internal investigation, the firing of several producers, and widespread public criticism.
Ellen made a comeback with her last standup comedy show, For Your Approval, which premiered on Netflix in September 2024. Before the show aired, she announced that she was planning to retire from Hollywood.
During her Ellen’s Last Stand…Up tour, Ellen DeGeneres told the audience, according to SFGate, that she plans to retire after releasing her upcoming Netflix special. She stated, ‘This is the last time you’re going to see me.’
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have settled in the Cotswolds. Ellen shared with Richard Bacon in July 2025, during a conversation at the Everyman theater in Cheltenham, that they decided to remain there after Donald Trump was reelected in November 2024.
She raved about the English countryside, telling the BBC it was “absolutely beautiful” and unlike anything she was used to. She especially loved the charming villages, towns, and architecture, and appreciated its peaceful, simpler way of life.
“It’s just a nicer place,” Ellen explained. “The animals are well cared for, and everyone is so friendly. We really love living here. We moved in November, which wasn’t the best timing, but I finally got to experience snow! Portia brought her horses with her, I have chickens, and we even had sheep for a couple of weeks.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by why people make big moves, and Tyra Banks’ recent relocation to Australia is a great example! It turns out it wasn’t just a personal whim – it was all about her ice cream company, SMiZE and Dream. She shared on Today with Jenna & Friends that the business initially focused on serving ice cream on airlines and cruises, and she found herself traveling to Australia frequently because that’s where a lot of the production was happening. She genuinely fell in love with the country during those trips. Plus, she realized Australia is a huge ice cream market – right up there with America and New Zealand! So, she made the leap, bringing her son York and boyfriend Louis along for the adventure. She’s said Australia has truly been a dream come true for her and her family, and honestly, who wouldn’t love a life filled with sunshine and delicious ice cream?

Eva Longoria, best known for her role on Desperate Housewives, has left Los Angeles and now divides her time between Mexico and Spain. In a November 2024 interview with Marie Claire, she explained that while she spent her adult life in LA, the city had changed, and the pandemic accelerated that shift. She cited issues like homelessness and taxes as contributing factors, but emphasized she wasn’t speaking negatively about California – she simply felt it was time for a new chapter.
Longoria, along with her husband José Bastón and son Santiago, began spending more time abroad a few years ago. She acknowledges her privilege in being able to leave, expressing anxiety and sadness for those Americans who don’t have the same opportunity.
However, she clarified in a November 2024 appearance on The View: Behind the Table that her move wasn’t politically motivated, despite speculation following the presidential election. She explained that work commitments – filming Land of Women in Spain, Searching for Mexico, and returning to Spain – led to her extended stay. She’s continued to work steadily since moving, appearing in shows like Only Murders in the Building and the film Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.

Actor Richard Gere has relocated from Chicago to Spain with his family. He explained on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in November 2024 that his wife, Alejandra Silva, who is from Galicia, encouraged the move, and they plan to live in Madrid for several years.
Gere is enthusiastic about how this change will benefit their young sons, Alexander and James, noting that the boys are already bilingual and will thrive in the new environment. He also has an adult son, Homer, with his ex-wife, Carey Lowell.
The family appears to be adjusting well. In a January 2025 interview with Elle España, Gere shared that they are happier than ever and are really enjoying this new chapter in their lives.

Singer Christina Milian and her family have officially moved to Paris. She and her husband, singer Matt Pokora, spent the last three or four years traveling back and forth between the U.S. and France, but decided to make Paris their permanent home so their children could attend school there. This includes her daughter Violet, from a previous relationship, and her sons Isaiah and Kenna, whom she shares with Pokora. Milian shared with TopMob in December 2024 that her kids are thriving and learning French, and she’s enjoying a balanced lifestyle with daytime activities and work that she does ahead of schedule. She feels it’s a wonderful opportunity for her family and everyone is happy with the move.

Lindsay Lohan is frustrated by the ongoing speculation surrounding her decision to leave Los Angeles and decided to clarify the situation, reflecting on her busy career and social life in the early 2000s. In a March 2024 interview with Bustle, she explained that she felt her work was often overshadowed by the constant attention of the paparazzi, which she found frustrating. She wished the focus had remained on her career, and that’s a major reason why she wanted to step away from the public eye – she believed the media would always prioritize a sensational story over her professional accomplishments. Lindsay did move to London and then Dubai, and also opened beach clubs in Greece, but a desire for a life free from the spotlight was also a key factor in her decision.
Lindsay Lohan admitted she worried she might never find love, wondering if that chapter of her life would ever begin. She realized it was only when she focused on herself that opportunities opened up and she started receiving the answers she’d been hoping for.
She did eventually find love with Bader Shammas, marrying him in 2022 and welcoming their son, Luai, in 2023.
Though they currently live in Dubai, Lindsay hasn’t left acting behind. She’s continued to appear in films like Our Little Secret, Irish Wish, and Freakier Friday.

Josh decided to leave Hollywood after some careful thought. He explained to People magazine in July 2024 that Hollywood isn’t just a location, but a way of life. Being surrounded by people constantly focused on the film industry, he felt, would limit his perspective. He wanted a life with more variety.
“I’ve always wanted to be around people doing different things, things that would take my mind off work and help me grow,” Josh said. He considers that variety to be essential to a fulfilling life.
So, Josh, his wife Tamsin Egerton, and their four children moved to the countryside of Hampshire, England. He told The Guardian in July 2024 that time flies by with a large family, and while it might seem like less is happening on the surface, more of what truly matters is.
Despite the move, Josh has remained active in his career, appearing in films like Verity, Fight or Flight, and Trap.

If you don’t follow Jesse on social media, you might be surprised to learn he no longer lives in Los Angeles. In a February 2025 interview with CBS News Sunday Morning, the A Real Pain star revealed he’s lived in Indiana for the past ten years, finding it a more comfortable environment. He explained he prefers to avoid the instability of the entertainment industry.
Despite being an Oscar nominee, Jesse lives a relatively normal life with his wife, Anna Strout, and their son, Banner. He avoids social media and doesn’t spend much time networking with industry professionals, which helps him maintain a sense of separation from the often-fickle world of Hollywood. His wife is a teacher, and his son isn’t even a big movie fan, further grounding him in a more everyday existence.

Eliza Dushku, known for her roles in shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the movie Bring It On, announced in September 2024 that she’s now a certified psychedelic-assisted therapist and is continuing her education in the field of mental health.
She told Boston Magazine that she was able to change her life’s path to focus on her own well-being, with the goal of then helping others heal. She felt it was important to share the positive changes she’d experienced and the sense of purpose she’d found, explaining that this work felt like her true calling.

The actress best known for playing Wilma Flintstone shared that she relocated to Ireland with her son, Clay, in January 2025. She’s now working on becoming an Irish citizen because of her family’s roots there. While she mentioned current political events as a factor in her move, she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of returning to her home country someday.
In a TikTok video, she shared that she misses her children, friends, and many aspects of her life back home. She’s working on building a new life in her current, beautiful country, and says her family will consider returning to America when it’s safe and all citizens have equal rights.

Actress Evangeline Lilly, known for her role in Ant-Man and the Wasp, has announced she’s stepping away from acting for an unspecified amount of time after a two-decade career.
In a June 2024 Instagram post, Evangeline shared how happy and at peace she feels while pursuing her dreams. She expressed gratitude for her life and explained that choosing a meaningful path, even if it means giving up traditional success like wealth and fame, can be scary but ultimately leads to a much more rewarding life.
She’s not ruling out a return to Hollywood completely, saying, “I might go back someday, but right now, I’m happy where I am.”

Since appearing in the 2019 Netflix series V-Wars, actor Paul Wesley hasn’t taken on another acting role. Instead, he’s been focusing on a personal mission: fighting climate change by working to improve soil health around the world.
Ian Somerhalder took a break from acting over four years ago to focus on his family, develop his businesses, and get his documentaries released. He told TopMob News in November 2023 that he’s been working on films like Kiss the Ground (released in 2020) and its sequel, Common Ground, which both highlight the importance of regenerative farming. He shares two children with his wife, Nikki Reed.
Looking ahead, the actor said he plans to become a rancher and focus on building lasting brands – like his bourbon and health company. He’s deeply committed to sustainable farming and healthy soil, values he and his family practice. He explained this is his long-term vision, and it’s the reason he’s so passionate about these things – it’s simply who he is and what he’s working towards.

In a February 2021 episode of her podcast, Empty Inside, former iCarly star Jennette McCurdy revealed to guest Anna Faris that she had quit acting a few years prior. She’s now pursuing writing and directing, alongside hosting the podcast.
Jennette recently shared that she deeply regrets many of the acting roles she took earlier in her career, detailing these feelings in her 2022 memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died. She explained that she feels frustrated with her career path and found the parts she played to be cheesy and embarrassing, especially considering she was on those shows from ages 13 to 21. By the time she was 15, she was already self-conscious about her work, feeling it wasn’t something her peers admired.
She hasn’t ruled out returning to acting completely. In an October 2022 interview with TopMob News, she explained that writing her book helped her consider acting in a new light, free from past pressures. She feels the only way she might consider it again would be if she wrote a role specifically for herself.

It seemed like a pretty easy decision. The chance to marry Prince Harry, focus on the charities we care about, and wear the Queen’s beautiful tiaras would make leaving Hollywood completely worthwhile.
As a longtime admirer, I’ve always been fascinated by the parallels between Meghan and Grace Kelly – both actresses who found themselves trading Hollywood for royal life. Meghan left her life in Toronto and her popular role on Suits to join the Royal Family, but now that she and Harry are forging their own path in Montecito, she’s slowly returning to the entertainment world. I’ve been so excited to see her new ventures, like the Harry & Meghan docuseries and the upcoming With Love, Meghan lifestyle show, both on Netflix. She’s also created her own podcast and launched her brand, As Ever, which is fantastic to see! It’s wonderful watching her build a life that blends her passions and allows her to express herself creatively.

After starring in over 40 films since she began her career with 1994’s The Mask, the actress really needed a rest when she finished filming Annie in 2014.
She told Gwyneth Paltrow that she realized she wanted a different lifestyle. After years of intense work and filmmaking, she felt burnt out. She explained that movie-making demands complete dedication—long days, months on set—leaving no room for personal life.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always admired Cameron Diaz’s ability to reinvent herself. After finding huge success in film, she really dove into wellness, following up her bestselling book, The Body Book, with The Longevity Book. She’s also been focused on building a family with her husband, Benji Madden, which is wonderful to see. While she told InStyle a few years ago that she wasn’t missing acting and was enjoying exploring the world of wellness, it sounds like she might be open to doing one more project if the right opportunity came along!
Jamie Foxx explained that he and others had to really plead with Cameron Diaz to star in the 2025 Netflix movie Back in Action, saying they begged her, ‘Just do one more!’ He added that they all adore her and have been eagerly awaiting her return, believing the film will be amazing.

The actor stated firmly that he wouldn’t return to the show after completing his five years on Empire. When Extra asked Terrence Howard about his plans before the sixth and final season aired in 2019, he said, “I’m finished with acting. I’m done with pretending.”
Despite appearing in a few projects since then, the Academy Award nominee announced his intention to retire from acting again in 2022 while promoting his Peacock series, The Best Man: The Final Chapters. He explained to ET that he felt he’d given his all as an actor and now wants to focus on watching and supporting new talent, rather than repeating past performances.
Even with the previous concerns, Howard has continued to act, appearing in shows like Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist and the Netflix film Shirley. He also has several new projects planned.

After his character, King Joffrey, died on the show in 2014, Jack Gleeson, then 21 years old, decided to quit acting. He told EW that he’d been acting since he was 8, but simply wasn’t enjoying it as much anymore.
It’s funny, growing up in the spotlight definitely changes things. For a long time, acting was just pure fun – something I did with my friends or to pass the time in the summer. I really loved it! But now that the idea of making a career out of it has come up, it feels different. It’s not that I dislike acting at all, it’s just… I don’t think it’s what I want to do with my life, you know? It shifts the whole dynamic when it becomes work.
After a six-year hiatus, Jack returned to acting in 2020 with a role in the BBC series Out of Her Mind. Since then, he’s also been in films like Rebecca’s Boyfriend and In the Land of Saints and Sinners, and TV shows including Safe Harbor and The Famous Five.

When Jennifer Aniston, known for her role in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, married actor Kevin Kline in 1989, they decided to stagger their work schedules. As Kline explained in Playboy, this allowed them to both be available to care for their children, Owen and Greta. Greta is now a singer who performs under the name Frankie Cosmos.
He added that Phoebe consistently prioritizes staying home with her children whenever she’s scheduled to work. While she had a small role in Jennifer Jason Leigh’s 2001 independent film, The Anniversary Party, Cates primarily focuses on running her boutique, Blue Tree, in New York City.

You know, back when I was following celebrity trends in the ’80s, Harold Ramis was everywhere – Ghostbusters, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids… it was a huge time for him! But then, sadly, he experienced a personal loss when his wife passed away from breast cancer in 1991. After that, he made a really admirable decision: he stepped away from making movies to dedicate himself to raising his children, Rachel and Mitchell. It just goes to show you, family truly comes first.
As a pop culture enthusiast, I’ve always said Rick is a true icon! Even though he stepped away from live-action films back in ’97 – he even turned down a Ghostbusters cameo a few years ago – people still adore him. You could really see that when news broke about an incident in New York City a while back. Thankfully, we’re getting more Rick in our lives! I’m thrilled to share he’s returning to the screen with Josh Gad in the new Disney reboot, Shrunk. It’s a fantastic comeback, and I know fans are going to be so excited!

After marrying fashion designer Adam Kimmel in 2010, actress Drew Barrymore suggested she was considering stepping back from acting. She told Vogue that most acting roles require a lot of intimate scenes, and she wasn’t interested in that. She explained that taking on such roles felt risky, and while she and her husband had a solid relationship, she needed a truly exceptional project to justify it.
After her son, Martin, joined his older sister, Louisanna, in 2014, she firmly decided to step away from acting. She told Us Weekly in 2016 that she felt like an outsider in the movie industry and was now focused on being a mom. She also mentioned she helps her husband, Kimmel, with his work and enjoys painting as a hobby, adding that her children were the main reason she stopped acting.

She’d starred in popular shows like Ally McBeal, Nip/Tuck, Arrested Development, and Scandal. After those roles, the Australian actress started to feel like it was time for a change.
Turning 45, I started thinking about taking on a new, challenging project – something I’d never done before,” she shared on her wife Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show in 2018. “I had a good idea of what my acting career would look like for the next decade or two, so I decided to leave acting and start my own business instead.”
Her company, General Public, which created art for everyone, was almost complete – she only had one final piece to finish.
I spoke with Mitch Hurwitz, the creator of Arrested Development, and let him know that if they made a fifth season, I wouldn’t be participating because I had decided to stop acting. He was very understanding and supportive, and we had a good talk. Surprisingly, he ended up writing me into five episodes anyway.

It’s understandable why, after winning three Oscars, an actor might consider their career complete. Following his sixth Academy Award nomination for the 2017 film Phantom Thread, the actor announced through his representative that he was retiring from acting. He expressed deep gratitude to those he’d worked with and his audiences over the years, and stated that this was a personal decision, with no further comments to be made.
Just as Daniel Day-Lewis had announced his retirement from acting, a new project drew him back in. In October 2024, Focus Features revealed he would star in Anemone, a film he co-wrote with his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who is also directing it.

After finding fame on Good Luck Charlie, she decided to focus on her education in 2018. She went on to earn both a master’s degree and a PhD from MIT, and also attended Harvard Law School.
On top of everything else, Bridgit also started her own company, Northwood Space. The company is building ground stations to facilitate communication with satellites, and Bridgit became its CEO in February 2023.
