Platinum Trophy #26: Minute of Islands

Apologies for the delay in this issue of Going Platinum. I’ve been incredibly busy lately, and the bank holiday weekend didn’t help. To top it off, I haven’t been feeling well and the heat has been oppressive.
Minute of Islands isn’t to blame for anything discussed here. It’s simply a fun, short game I enjoyed playing a few years back.
It’s curious how writing doesn’t show the pauses between thoughts. For example, I just spent five minutes trying to remember anything about the game Minute of Islands before being able to continue writing these sentences.
The game itself isn’t to blame for this feeling. It’s actually quite a memorable experience, but it’s difficult to enjoy looking back on it when you’re struggling with a distracting, overwhelming sensation.
I think I need to apologize to the developers at Studio Fizbin. I usually talk a lot about a game by this point in the ‘Going Platinum’ series, but I haven’t said much about theirs yet. On a brighter note, I just finished some cold medicine (Lemsip), and being sick did have one perk – it didn’t have any flavor!
I really enjoyed playing Minute of Islands! What stands out most is how beautiful it is. The art style is hand-drawn and reminds me of Adventure Time, and I loved simply exploring the environments and taking in the scenery.
What really stands out is how surprisingly dark the game is. Despite its charming look, the world is actually falling apart, and as you play, Minute of Islands doesn’t shy away from showing you some truly disturbing things.
There’s an island you’ll revisit during the game where you’ll find a whale that has washed ashore and is decaying. It’s quite gruesome, but it’s done very well.
I also recall that the game is quite short and not very challenging. It’s a good choice if you want to earn the platinum trophy in about six hours.
This game has a short and easy-to-complete Trophy list, and you’ll enjoy exploring its unique world and solving its uncomplicated puzzles.
