The Disney representative’s statement is unclear. It’s difficult to tell if they’re talking about bringing Cal Kestis to the Disney parks, or expanding his role within the Star Wars universe generally. While it’s likely they mean the broader franchise, simply adding Cal to Galaxy’s Edge isn’t the same as developing his character’s story. A meet-and-greet is different from truly building on his journey.

It will be fascinating to see what Lucasfilm does with Cal Kestis if they continue to expand his story. Many fans would love to see Cal brought to life in a live-action series, ideally with Cameron Monaghan reprising his role. However, it’s unclear if such an opportunity will arise, as Lucasfilm appears to be focusing more on theatrical releases than new Disney+ shows. A story set during the time of the Empire could work well, given that the Jedi games take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Though it’s admirable to end a story at its peak, EA might be tempted to revisit this profitable franchise if Jedi 3 performs well.
