I’m so relieved! The second season of one of MAPPA’s grittiest anime just finished up, and thankfully, they’ve confirmed it’s continuing with a Season 3! It’s been a fantastic year for MAPPA, bringing so many big franchises to life this Winter and Spring. But honestly, I was especially excited to see more of Q Hayashida’s Dorohedoro – fans like me had been waiting six long years for Season 2 to finally arrive!

The anime Dorohedoro has finished its second season and confirmed that a third season is planned! While details like the release date and what to expect are still being worked out, this is exciting news, especially since it took a while for Season 2 to begin production. To celebrate the announcement, Toho released a special illustration by Yuichiro Hayashi, who is expected to return as director. He previously directed Season 2, with animation handled by MAPPA, and it’s likely the same team will work on the third season, especially given the relatively quick turnaround compared to the wait between Seasons 1 and 2.

To get fans excited for the new season, Toho released a special animated music video for the opening theme, “Zettai Must Danmen,” performed by (K)NoW_NAME (watch it here!).
