I’m so relieved! The second season of one of MAPPA’s grittiest anime just finished up, and thankfully, they’ve confirmed it’s continuing with a Season 3! It’s been a fantastic year for MAPPA, bringing so many big franchises to life this Winter and Spring. But honestly, I was especially excited to see more of Q Hayashida’s Dorohedoro – fans like me had been waiting six long years for Season 2 to finally arrive!
The anime Dorohedoro has finished its second season and confirmed that a third season is planned! While details like the release date and what to expect are still being worked out, this is exciting news, especially since it took a while for Season 2 to begin production. Check out the celebratory artwork from director Yuichiro Hayashi to get a sneak peek and build anticipation!
Dorohedoro Season 3 Announced

A third season of Dorohedoro is confirmed, but details like when it will be released are still unknown. To celebrate the announcement, Toho released a special illustration by Yuichiro Hayashi, who is expected to return as director. He previously directed Season 2, with animation handled by MAPPA, and it’s likely the same team will work on the third season, especially given the relatively quick turnaround compared to the wait between Seasons 1 and 2.
To get fans excited for the new season, Toho released a special animated music video for the opening theme, “Zettai Must Danmen,” performed by (K)NoW_NAME (watch it here!). With season three on the way and season two finished, now is a great time to revisit everything that’s happened in the Dorohedoro anime.
What to Know for Dorohedoro

I’m so excited about the upcoming third season of Dorohedoro! If you’re like me and need to catch up, the good news is you can stream every episode right now! It’s available on Netflix, Crunchyroll, and even Disney+ with both the original Japanese and English dubs. The new episodes are being made by the amazing team at studio MAPPA, with Yuichiro Hayashi directing, Hiroshi Seko writing the scripts, Tomohiro Kishi handling character design, and [K]NoW_Name and Fairy_gone creating the music – it’s going to be incredible!
A third season of Dorohedoro is happening, and fans are hoping it won’t take as long to arrive as the previous wait. Because production may have already started on more episodes than planned when the show was renewed, we might only have to wait a couple of years.
