One Piece Creator Visits Live-Action Set For Season 3 Preview

After the success of the second season on Netflix, the Straw Hat Pirates, led by Monkey D. Luffy, are preparing to journey to Alabasta in the live-action series. Filming for One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta has already started, and to boost the cast’s spirits, Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, made a special visit to the set. As usual, Oda prefers to stay behind the scenes, so fans shouldn’t expect to see his face in the footage released by Netflix.

A new video from Netflix shows One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda visiting the set of the show’s third season. He meets Inaki Godoy, who plays Luffy, still in costume! Oda also sketches Luffy in the sand, giving fans a sneak peek at the Alabasta set. If you’re wondering about the large fish covering Oda’s face, it’s common for manga artists in Japan, including him, to conceal their identities. Given how busy Oda is with his work, it’s great to see him taking the time to visit the live-action adaptation. You can watch the video below.

What Will Season Three Be in Alabasta?

Okay, so I’m SO excited for the third season! For anyone who doesn’t know the story, Luffy and the Straw Hats are heading to Alabasta, a really cool desert island. They’re going to face off against some seriously tough villains like Crocodile and Miss All Sunday, but they’ll also meet some unexpected friends – and get this, Ace is going to show up! The new cast is amazing too – Cole Escola is playing Bon Clay, Awdo Awdo is Mr. 1, Daisy Head is Miss Doublefinger, and Xolo Mariduena is taking on the role of Portgas D. Ace. Plus, with Tony Tony Chopper now part of the crew after the last season, things are definitely going to be challenging for Luffy and everyone on the Going Merry, but I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, works on an incredibly demanding schedule. He often spends more than twelve hours a day, six days a week, developing the story. This dedication has allowed One Piece to be released weekly for many years, though Oda has recently acknowledged the need for occasional breaks. While the manga generally still comes out every week, there are sometimes pauses. As the story nears its end in both the manga and anime, Oda’s retirement is likely in the future, but the final chapter may still be years away.
