Everstone Studio has detailed the new content coming in the The Imperial Palace expansion for the open-world RPG Where Winds Meet, just before its release tomorrow. The game will undergo maintenance from 5 am to 12 pm (UTC+8) on May 28th, but players can still play during this time, though some features will be temporarily unavailable.
Once the update is released, players can explore the Imperial Palace, a major new area. To get there, you’ll need to reach level 32 and finish the main quest “New Arrival in Kaifeng – The Welcoming Crowd” from Chapter I in Kaifeng. Completing this unlocks the “Throne and Tempest” Lost Chapter, granting access to the Palace.
Exploring the Imperial Palace unlocks valuable rewards, including accessories like the Justicar’s Barrel and face ornaments such as the Demon Queller, plus earrings like the Jadestep Spring. Players can also find a new collectible item called “Golden Echoes” hidden in four secret spots: Jade Steps, Incense Candles, near the Imperial Warden, and at Auspicious Rain.
The quest “Throne and Tempest I” in Kaifeng Lost Chapter centers around whispers of a hidden treasure within the palace. Despite tight security, these rumors quickly spread, attracting skilled thieves from across the land who seek to steal the palace’s gold and jade.
Exploring the Imperial Palace area opens up a new Jianghu Legacy called the Grand Nuo Ritual. This legacy focuses on the special Ritual Masks used by both soldiers and everyday people.
Players who want a tougher challenge can battle the new Gilded Lament world boss. The first time they defeat it, they’ll earn a Gilded Bond accessory, 3 Medicinal Tales, 5 Inner Way Notes for a special chest, and 20 Echo Jade. They can also fight the Cat Emperor for a chance to win the Meow Magistrate hair ornament and other rewards.
A new update is available for the 10-player campaign, offering challenges for players level 91 and higher. The ‘Resounding Majesty’ mode lets players compete for rewards based on leaderboard rankings. Additionally, players level 95 and up can now access the first five floors of ‘Skyward Bond,’ where they’ll face off against Lion Dancer and Ghost Master, completing the floors within a set time limit.
So, the update isn’t just content, it’s also packed with limited-time events! There’s a new exploration event starting June 1st that runs until June 7th. If you’re level 10 or higher and you’ve finished the ‘Another New Wing’ quest in the Qinghe Main Chapter, you can jump into the ‘A Returning Friend’ and ‘A Familiar Shade’ events. Sounds like a good way to earn some extra rewards!
If you’ve unlocked the Imperial Palace, you can join the Palace Chronicle event from May 28th to June 25th. During this event, you’ll encounter different challenges as you explore, with unexpected events happening along the way.
Where Winds Meet is a free-to-play game available on PC, PS5, iOS, and Android.
