In addition to the upcoming season, the series has also received a fresh new look as part of a special collaboration.

Frieren Gets Portrait Style Makeover for New Vermeer Exhibition
Later this August, Japan will host an exhibition featuring works by Johannes Vermeer, including his iconic “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” In a unique collaboration, Shogakukan has created special artwork by illustrator Tsukasa Abe, reimagining the famous painting with the character Frieren as the girl with the pearl earring. Exclusive merchandise featuring this new artwork will be available at the exhibition, but currently, there are no plans to release it outside of Japan, meaning fans outside the country will likely have to admire it from a distance.
Good news for fans of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End: a third season is already being made! While an exact release date hasn’t been announced yet, it’s currently planned for October 2027. We don’t know for sure who will be involved in making the new season, but it’s likely the original cast and crew will return when it airs.
What to Know for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3
Toho Animation has announced that a third season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is in development. It will cover the ‘Golden Land’ arc from the original manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe. The second season already hinted at characters and plot points that will be important in this upcoming arc, and introduced a powerful new villain that Frieren and her companions will have to face.
The Golden Land arc is currently one of the longest storylines in the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga, offering a more substantial and connected narrative compared to the largely self-contained episodes of the second season.
