Emmerdale airs devastating Kammy Hadiq development as the police are summoned in early ITVX release

Shebz Miah is getting his chance to shine on Emmerdale, as the show recently revealed more about his character, Kammy Hadiq’s, past.

Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) was confused earlier this week when her boyfriend suddenly said she wasn’t allowed to meet his family or celebrate Eid with them. She even considered looking through his phone, wondering if he was keeping a secret.

Remembering the terrible abuse and control her ex-husband, Tom King, had subjected her to, she chose not to violate Kammy’s privacy.

She had no idea he was deeply in debt and living without a home, secretly staying in a barn on the Emmerdale Farm property.

Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle were trying to find whoever was starting fires, and they began to suspect Kammy. They caught him attempting to set his own car on fire, realizing he planned to collect the insurance money.

Aaron informed Belle, who tore strips off him and asserted that their relationship was over.

Today, he’d slept on Vinny Dingle’s (Bradley Johnson) couch, but the Dingle family remained cold towards him. They told him to leave the village, making it clear they don’t forgive easily and will always seek retribution for offenses.

After another fire started on the farm, Aaron and Belle immediately suspected Kammy was behind it and called the police. Vinny quickly went to Wishing Well Cottage to explain he couldn’t have done it, because he’d been with them all day.

He also explained that Kammy is homeless, and Belle looked guilt-ridden.

They hurried to the village, hoping to intervene before the police took him away, but they didn’t make it in time – he was already in custody. Luckily, he was eventually released, but Belle was surprised to learn this wasn’t his first arrest.

Back at Wishing Well, she pressed him to explain what happened. With tears in his eyes, Kammy shared a difficult childhood, explaining that his life fell apart after his father died when he was a teenager. He and his sister started stealing cars to support their family.

He avoided getting arrested himself, but once took the blame for something his sister did. The judge was understanding when they learned about his difficult family situation with his father.

However, it was deemed that he’d shamed his community, and was forced to leave.

Luckily, Belle had an idea and offered him a place to stay with the Dingles until he could get himself settled again.

Will we meet his family one day?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.

As a huge soap fan, I’ve always been fascinated by the people who keep us up-to-date on all the drama. That’s why I find Michael Adams’ work at TopMob so great – he really knows what’s happening in all the big shows, from Coronation Street and EastEnders to Emmerdale and Hollyoaks. Before TopMob, he was a soaps reporter at Metro for a couple of years, and even worked on set of both Corrie and Emmerdale, which is pretty amazing! He definitely knows his stuff.
