Even before the movie is out, the big cameo at the end of Masters of the Universe has been revealed. While some people have been sharing unofficial recordings from early showings, this information comes directly from the actor playing the new character. SPOILER ALERT: This article contains major spoilers for Masters of the Universe.
The character She-Ra appears briefly at the end of Travis Knight’s recent film, and now we know who played her! Lauren Saliu revealed on Instagram that she was the one in the She-Ra costume, sharing a detailed look at the iconic outfit (which was only seen from behind in the movie). She also posted some behind-the-scenes photos from filming. Here’s the reveal, along with a recording of the post-credits scene – though some people seem to be ignoring theater etiquette these days!
She-Ra Will Play a Huge Part in Masters of the Universe Sequels
When questioned about whether She-Ra would appear in the movie before its release, director Travis Knight was careful not to reveal too much. The team ultimately decided to focus the film on Adam’s story, a choice that feels right when you watch it. Knight explained to SFX magazine that She-Ra has always been important to the Masters of the Universe world and connected to Adam’s journey, and he hopes to explore her role further if they get to make more films. He also confirmed they discussed her extensively, and suggested an earlier version of the movie might have included more of her. He mentioned significant scenes were cut during editing, though he’s proud of the final result and hopes those scenes might be released sometime in the future.
Will we see sequels to Masters of the Universe? Initial box office predictions aren’t strong, even though critics generally like the movie (it’s a fun 3.5-4 out of 5). This makes it uncertain whether it will launch a franchise. We’ve seen this before with Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which was well-received but didn’t make enough money to justify sequels. Hopefully, good reviews and word-of-mouth will boost Masters of the Universe‘s performance over time. As director Knight explained, studios like Amazon need to see strong ticket sales before they’ll commit to more films. He believes Masters of the Universe has a rich world with plenty of stories and characters, but ultimately, financial success is key to continuing the franchise.
