With nearly $800 million earned worldwide, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is now the highest-grossing anime film of all time. Many fans are eager to find out when Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps will continue their battle against Muzan. Although Ufotable has confirmed two more movies are in development, details about their release dates and titles remain scarce. Following a recent announcement, it appears fans will have to wait even longer for updates on the sequels.
Next month’s Anime Expo will feature several popular anime series. So far, they’ve announced appearances related to shows like Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, Gachiakuta, The Apothecary Diaries, and Witch Hat Atelier, among many others. Infinity Castle is also planning a special event, but it’s a celebration of the film featuring the Japanese voice actors who played the Hashira. While the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Celebration” will mostly look back at the movie and won’t offer any new information about future sequels, the Anime Expo event does suggest we’ll get a sneak peek at an upcoming project from Ufotable.
Demon Slayers and The Witch
Ufotable, the studio behind the popular anime Demon Slayer, is working on a new supernatural project. They previously announced an anime film called Witch on the Holy Night for this year, but didn’t specify a release date. During an upcoming Demon Slayer event, Ufotable hinted that they’ll be showing new footage from this new film. Witch on the Holy Night was originally a visual novel released in 2012, and the anime will feature the original voice actors reprising their roles. While it may not become as widely popular as Demon Slayer, Witch on the Holy Night promises to have a similar high-quality animation style.
It’s interesting that Ufotable, known for its high-quality animation, is already planning another anime based on a video game. They’ve announced they’ll be adapting Genshin Impact for television, likely as a new project after they finish the Demon Slayer series. While the Demon Slayer movies, like Mugen Train and Infinity Castle, have earned huge amounts of money globally, the upcoming final two films might even be more successful, as the biggest challenge to Demon Slayer’s success is itself.
