A new report offers an update on The Elder Scrolls 6, and it’s not what fans were hoping to hear. Bethesda announced the successor to Skyrim back in 2018, which was already seven years after Skyrim originally came out. That means it’s been a full 15 years since the last major Elder Scrolls game. While Bethesda released a remastered version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion last year to tide players over, fans are still eagerly awaiting The Elder Scrolls 6, and unfortunately, they may have to wait quite a bit longer.
A new report aligns with previous predictions that The Elder Scrolls 6 will likely release between 2028 and 2029. This report also indicates the game won’t be revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase this Sunday, June 7th. This suggests a 2026 release is unlikely, as any announcement would likely happen at this event. Xbox probably wants to control the timing of the reveal and won’t share the spotlight with anyone else, or announce it on an ordinary day. The Game Awards later this year is a possible exception. Most likely, we’ll see the game again at the Xbox summer showcase next year, or perhaps not until 2028. If the release isn’t until 2029, Bethesda’s history suggests we might not even hear about it again until then, as they often prefer brief, focused marketing campaigns.
The Wait for The Elder Scrolls 6 Continues
This information comes from Jez Corden, an Xbox insider. While he hasn’t always been right, he’s broken accurate stories before. It’s hard to say how much of this report is confirmed fact versus educated guessing, so it’s best to be cautious. Consider everything here as unconfirmed for now.
As of right now, Bethesda Game Studios, Bethesda, and Xbox haven’t said anything about this new info, and honestly, I don’t think they will. But, if they do decide to comment, I’ll be sure to update everyone right away!
