In the main DC Universe, the Justice League stands as the ultimate symbol of heroism. They are a beacon of hope against all forms of evil, showcasing the very best heroes DC has to offer – including legends like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. People always count on the Justice League to save the day, especially when things look hopeless. They’ve rescued the universe countless times and continue to do so. Now, consider everything you admire about the Justice League, and imagine how frightening it would be if they were to become villains.
The Absolute Universe is a much grimmer place than the main DC world. Darkseid’s corruption has twisted reality, favoring evil over good. Here, the Justice League isn’t made up of heroes, but villains—powerful individuals determined to keep their corrupt system going. We’re going to examine this twisted League and rank its members based on how dangerous they are. Just to clarify, Ra’s al Ghul is deceased and won’t be included, and Mirror Master is a solo operator, so he’s excluded as well. With that said, let’s dive in and take a look at this evil Justice League.
5) Hector Hammond

Surrounded by a bizarre team of scientists and potentially a real demon, Hammond is essentially a typical, wealthy villain. He has incredible power and endless money, allowing him to easily destroy people’s lives. However, that’s where his strengths end. While his vast fortune gives him control, he’s only a danger to ordinary people. Even with alien technology, he couldn’t defeat Green Lantern and was quickly defeated when Green Arrow first appeared. Hammond is the easiest villain to overcome because, at his core, he’s just a man – greedy, easily frustrated, and ultimately, quite vulnerable.
4) Elenore Thawne

Dr. Thawne is a scientist determined to finish her grandfather’s work on the Still Point. She once led a well-funded military group that used alien technology to create monstrous beings. After the Flash and the Rogues shut down her Project Olympus, she lost her power and went into hiding. While she no longer has her military backing or her lead scientist, Barry Allen, she still possesses her research, data, and valuable connections. This allows her to rebuild her project, and the recent disappearances of people connected to STAR Labs suggest she’s already putting her plans into motion. Even on the run, Thawne remains a serious threat due to her advanced technology and knowledge.
3) Veronica Cale

Let me tell you, Cale is a force to be reckoned with. As the head of Aera 41 – basically the US government’s ghostbusting department – she’s the one who assembled this whole team, and she’s got unlimited backing. I’m talking a full-blown, government-funded Suicide Squad under her control, seemingly using pieces of Starro to keep them in line. We’re not talking small potatoes either; she’s got heavy hitters like Giganta and Doctor Poison at her command. But it’s not just her resources that are scary. Zatanna actually warned Wonder Woman about a curse Cale is carrying – a curse powerful enough to potentially harm even someone as magically gifted as the Witch of the Wild Isle. Seriously, Cale is dangerous on every level – financially, strategically, and personally. Keep your eyes on her.
2) Joker

The Joker, also known as Jack Grimm I through V, isn’t just wealthy – he’s incredibly resourceful, like Bruce Wayne. He possesses limitless funds and has received top-tier training, much like the original Batman. In fact, Absolute Batman #1 revealed he eliminated the entire League of Assassins after mastering their skills, and he’s done the same with all of Batman’s teachers. Beyond that, the Joker has a terrifying true form: a colossal, powerful white shape capable of effortlessly swallowing a person whole. He’s the first truly monstrous figure on this list – a physically dominant being, potentially a literal demon, fueled by a disturbing source, making him unbelievably frightening.
1) Brainiac

Brainiac is secretly a member of the Justice League, initially appearing to be controlled by Ra’s al Ghul. But it looks like Brainiac is actually the one pulling all the strings, having orchestrated everything Ra’s and others have been doing. Recent discoveries, like those in Absolute Superman, show that Brainiacs have been interfering with Earth’s history for millennia, even creating Black Adam on a whim. This Brainiac possesses incredibly advanced technology – far beyond anything else on Earth – allowing him to even challenge Superman. Combining this technology with knowledge from other universes, Brainiac has the power and intelligence to manipulate global events from the shadows. He’s a uniquely dangerous threat, and when he fully reveals his plans, the world will be changed forever.
