Acclaimed Action Series Gets a New Story After Surprise Hiatus

Bungo Stray Dogs is a popular action series with supernatural elements, created by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa. It began as a manga in 2012, published in Young Ace magazine, and was adapted into an anime by Studio Bones in 2016. The anime quickly gained fans worldwide and has now run for five seasons, along with a movie and spin-off series. The most recent season premiered in 2023, and while a sixth season hasn’t been officially confirmed, the story hints at more to come. As fans eagerly await news, Bungo Stray Dogs is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a new official website and plans for upcoming projects.

What’s Next For Bungo Stray Dogs?

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the anime is planning some exciting gifts for fans! In addition to a Tokyo-exclusive exhibition, a new project will feature 35 original illustrations by Harukawa while the manga takes a break. The first illustration shows Kyouka with Atsushi, Akutagawa, Dazai, and Chuuya. This is just the beginning, so fans can look forward to more announcements soon.

The manga is currently paused after finishing its first story arc, and we haven’t heard when it will continue. The first part featured surprising plot twists, heartbreaking moments, and exciting fights. The next part is likely to be just as action-packed. The anime finished its fifth season three years ago and caught up to the manga at that point, meaning there’s no more manga content for a sixth season.

While the manga continues the story and has a lot more material, there’s no news about a new anime season yet. You can currently watch the original anime series, the movie, and the spin-off on Crunchyroll. The manga currently has 28 volumes available, with 27 translated into English. The release date for the English translation of Volume 28 is still unknown.
