Xbox is offering a free game that was originally released on the Xbox One, and it’s available on Steam until July 1st. This is a completely free game – not just a demo or trial – and if you claim it before the deadline, you’ll own it forever on Steam. It’s also playable on the Steam Deck, though it’s not officially ‘Verified’ by Valve, which is unlikely to change.
The free game Tell Me Why was released on Steam by Xbox near the end of the Xbox One generation, in August 2020, just before the Xbox Series X and S launched. While developed by Don’t Nod Entertainment – a studio not owned by Xbox – it was published in partnership with Xbox Game Studios, making it an Xbox console exclusive. Although it’s not Don’t Nod’s most acclaimed or popular game – they’re better known for the Life Is Strange series – Tell Me Why still has a dedicated fanbase. It currently holds an 80% approval rating on Steam, earning a “Very Positive” rating from almost 8,000 user reviews – the second highest rating possible on the platform.
Xbox Exclusive Game From the Studio Behind Life Is Strange
Okay, so if you haven’t heard of this game, it’s an adventure where your decisions actually change things. You play as twins, Tyler and Aluson Ronan, who just found each other again. They have this weird connection, almost like a superpower, and they need to use it to figure out what happened when they were kids growing up in this tiny town in Alaska. It’s all about uncovering lost memories and solving mysteries!
If you’re just starting the Xbox game now that it’s free on Steam, you can expect it to take around 9 to 14 hours to complete, depending on how much of the extra content you choose to play.
