Good Omens favourite Michael Sheen tears up about show’s finale in new behind-the-scenes video

Michael Sheen, known for his role in Good Omens, became emotional when discussing the show’s final episode in a recent behind-the-scenes clip.

The Prime Video show has come to an end after three seasons and seven years on screens.

I just finished watching this delightful fantasy comedy, and let me tell you, the heart of it lies in the fantastic chemistry between Michael Sheen, who plays a wonderfully uptight angel named Aziraphale, and David Tennant, who is perfectly cast as the rebellious demon, Crowley. It’s all about their surprisingly close, and often hilarious, friendship.

After watching over Earth for six thousand years and becoming attached to humans, they join forces to prevent Armageddon – the ultimate, devastating battle between Heaven and Hell.

Now that the show has finished, the two main actors have shared stories about their experiences and the bond they formed while working together in a new behind-the-scenes video.

Clearly emotional, Sheen struggled to discuss the topic, pausing to apologize and wipe away tears.

He paused, searching for the right words, and then said, “Playing these characters and working with David has been a real joy. It’s been a wonderful experience.”

David Tennant, still known for his red hair like his character Crowley, explained that he and Michael Sheen had met before, but were only casual acquaintances.

Getting cast together in this project was mostly a fortunate coincidence, because the whole story really relies on the dynamic between Aziraphale and Crawley. We initially just had fun acting alongside each other.

We had a great working relationship and really appreciated each other’s contributions. It’s been wonderful ever since, and I’m finding it hard to believe it’s ending.

The popular series Good Omens has been cancelled after three seasons. The story of Aziraphale and Crowley has reached its conclusion and will not continue.

Following accusations of sexual assault – which he firmly denies – Neil Gaiman, a writer on the TV series Good Omens, stepped away from the show. While he did contribute to the final episode’s writing, he wasn’t involved in the production itself, nor was his company, Blank Corporation.

Nine women have publicly accused the writer of misconduct, as reported in a January 2025 article by Vulture and a July 2024 podcast from Tortoise Media.

The accusations against Gaiman involve claims of sexual activity, including rough sex and BDSM, that occurred without the other person’s agreement. Gaiman has strongly stated that he did not engage in any activity that was unwanted or against the law.

When I read these recent stories, some parts felt familiar while others didn’t. It’s a mix of things that actually happened and things that clearly didn’t.

I’m not perfect, but I’ve never been involved in any sexual activity without the other person’s full consent. Not once.

Good Omens season 3 is available to stream on Prime Video now.
