Taylor Sheridan’s 3-part spy action series has earned an official 2026 release date.

The popular action series Lioness will return for a third season later this year. The show, starring Zoe Saldaña, centers around Joe McNamara, a CIA case officer who leads the Lioness program—a team of undercover agents working to prevent terrorism. Each season follows McNamara as she trains new operatives and navigates the complex world of military espionage, while also exploring the broader context of the US government’s fight against terror.

Starting August 2nd, new episodes of Lioness season 3 will be available on Paramount+, according to Entertainment Weekly. The new season follows Joe after the dangerous events of season 2, where her team faced a serious threat but was ultimately rescued. This season, she’ll be working with CIA Deputy Director Byron Westfield (Michael Kelly) and her boss, Kaitlyn Meade (Nicole Kidman), to tackle new enemies within the United States.

Entertainment Weekly shared the premiere date and some new photos from the next season. The images show Zoe Saldaña, Kelly Reilly, and Nicole Kidman reprising their roles as Lioness agents facing a risky, politically charged situation. We also get a look at returning and new faces, including Laysla De Oliveira as Cruz Manuelos, Genesis Rodriguez as Josephina Carrillo, Dave Annable as Neal McNamara, Morgan Freeman as Edwin Mullins, Thad Luckinbill as Kyle McManus, LaMonica Garrett as Tucker, and newcomers Ian Bohen and Sandi Todorovic.

A third season of Lioness was announced in August 2025, with production scheduled from October 2025 to March 2026. According to an Entertainment Weekly interview with Zoe Saldaña, this season will feature a strong collaboration between the characters Joe, Westfield, and Kaitlyn, along with returning characters Cruz and Josie. Joe’s work will become increasingly personal, which is expected to create tension within her family throughout the season.

This season will explore Joe’s struggle to embrace her more human side, the parts she usually suppresses to maintain her professional image. Unlike past seasons which focused on her family, the dangers she faces now will hit much closer to home. This shift will lead the series in a fresh, yet recognizable direction, allowing the story to evolve and unfold in exciting new ways.

The new series Lioness is set to premiere on Paramount+ in August, and it looks like the story will have a significant and personal impact on the main character, Joe, as well as her family and colleagues at the CIA.
