Anthony Head, Buffy and Ted Lasso Star, Dead at 72

A beloved actor who rounded out several iconic TV ensembles has died.

I was so incredibly saddened to hear that Anthony Head passed away. He was 72. As a huge fan, I’ll always remember him fondly as Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and, more recently, as Rupert Mannion in Ted Lasso. He brought so much depth and charm to both roles, and he’ll be deeply missed.

In a statement to the BBC on June 5, the daughters of actor Paul Head, Emily, 37, and Daisy, 35, announced his death. They shared that he died peacefully at home, with his family by his side, after a battle with pneumonia.

The daughters of the actor expressed how proud they were to be continuing the family tradition by becoming actors themselves.

They shared that it was always an honor and a joy to be his daughters and to see how much good he and his work brought to others. They know he will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him – especially his friends, coworkers, and fans – as he truly loved his career.

The Londoner’s family shared that he always felt very fortunate to work in entertainment and have a career lasting many years.

Julian Sands first gained attention in the 1978 TV series Enemy at the Door, but he became widely known to American audiences as Buffy Summers’ mentor on the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the late 1990s.

Those who loved him said their sadness was immense, but they found comfort knowing he’d be remembered through his work and by all those who enjoyed it.

I was so saddened to hear about Roy Head passing away. He leaves behind his two daughters, but he was deeply affected by the loss of his beloved partner, Sarah Fisher, who we lost far too soon last year. She was a wonderful woman, dedicated to helping animals, and her death hit both Roy and their daughters incredibly hard, as they shared in a statement at the time.

They shared on Facebook that their sadness was immeasurable, and that her extraordinary and one-of-a-kind personality will be deeply missed. They explained that no words could truly capture who she was, or the profound loss they felt with her passing.

You know, despite never officially tying the knot – Carrie and Harrison had this incredible connection. I remember reading that Carrie playfully told the Daily Telegraph she’d give Harrison a very firm ‘no!’ whenever he jokingly proposed. But honestly, he always saw her as his one true partner, the person he’d build a life with, regardless of a marriage certificate.

He told a U.K. newspaper he couldn’t picture his life without Sarah, and he didn’t want to try.

And he credited Fisher, whom he dated for nearly 40 years, with his success as an actor.

He remembers a time when he was out of work and would often break down on the phone, considering moving back home. But his wife, Sarah, encouraged him to persevere and take acting classes, which he ultimately did.
