Be warned, this contains spoilers for the 2026 Masters of the Universe movie! The upcoming film is bringing many of Mattel’s iconic characters to life in live-action, and it finally features a live-action version of a major franchise star. Prince Adam, also known as He-Man, is returning to the big screen, with Nicholas Galitzine taking on the role almost 40 years after Dolph Lundgren first played him.
The upcoming 2026 film, Masters of the Universe, is a fresh attempt to adapt the popular Mattel franchise for live-action. Director Travis Knight packed the nearly two-and-a-half-hour movie with characters fans will recognize, including returning favorites like Teela, Man-at-Arms, Skeletor, and Evil-Lyn, who all appeared in the 1987 film.
The new version of Masters of the Universe isn’t just a continuation of the original story – it also introduces several characters who weren’t in the first film. This includes allies of He-Man like Fisto and Ram-Man, his parents King Randor and Queen Marlena, and villains such as Trap-Jaw. We even see Battle Cat, the large green tiger, make his live-action debut, but the biggest surprise of all is another new face.
The recent post-credits scene in Masters of the Universe introduced She-Ra, He-Man’s long-lost twin sister. Although her face isn’t fully shown, this brief appearance marks the first time She-Ra, also known as The Princess of Power, has been featured in a live-action movie or show.
She-Ra Makes Her Live-Action Debut In 2026’s Masters Of The Universe
As a huge fan of classic cartoons, I’ve always loved She-Ra! She’s been around since 1984, starring in comics and even getting her own fantastic animated series on Netflix – She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, which ran for five seasons. It’s amazing to me that, despite being so popular for so long, we’re not going to see Adora come to life in a live-action show until 2026! It feels like a long wait, but I’m so excited it’s finally happening.
The character wasn’t included in the original 1987 Masters of the Universe movie, and there’s no evidence she was ever planned to be. The new film, coming in 2026, seems to be another live-action Masters of the Universe adaptation that completely leaves her out of the story. She isn’t mentioned until a scene after the credits roll.
Lauren Saliu is the actress who made history as the first live-action She-Ra. Before this iconic role, she had only appeared in a few short films, making her part in the Masters of the Universe cast a major breakthrough.
Although the upcoming 2026 Masters of the Universe movie will feature the first live-action version of She-Ra, a She-Ra series was actually in development at Amazon since 2021. Heidi Schreck was brought on board in 2024 to write the script. Had the series progressed more quickly, She-Ra—or Adora—would have made her live-action debut in a bigger role much sooner.
Masters Of The Universe Sets Up A Big Future For She-Ra
Okay, so She-Ra’s appearance in the live-action movie was super brief, just a few seconds, but that post-credits scene? That totally tells me they’re planning to make her a big deal in future movies. Of course, it all hinges on whether this Masters of the Universe film does well enough at the box office to convince Amazon MGM to keep the franchise going and make more of them!
The next Masters of the Universe movie is expected to feature She-Ra’s return to her home planet, Eternia, and a reunion with her family. It would be surprising if the filmmakers didn’t follow through on this storyline. According to an exclusive interview with ScreenRant, She-Ra will definitely be a key character in the sequel.
As a huge fan, I’m really hoping we get to see more stories in this world, and if we do, She-Ra would absolutely be a central character – a really major player in any future movie, I think.
If the project moves forward, Amazon is likely to cast a new lead actress. Several young and talented performers, including Sydney Sweeney, Hailee Steinfeld, Anya Taylor-Joy, Emma Mackey, Kathryn Newton, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Elle Fanning, are potential candidates. A successful film could lead to more live-action She-Ra adaptations in the future.
