In addition to the Resident Evil Veronica announcement, Capcom unveiled Ascendance, the first expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds. This new content is set on a series of rocky islands floating among the clouds above the already-known Forbidden Lands – a previously undiscovered area.
Something’s happening that draws the Hunters into a new investigation, and it’s pretty obvious an Elder Dragon is behind it. While you’ll face some new monsters, you’ll also battle familiar ones, like Kushala Daora. The update also hints at the return of Lao Shan Lung, a classic monster not seen as a target since Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.
The game preview showed off some new features, like a powerful gauntlet that can be charged up to boost your attacks. There’s also a new long-range weapon for shooting monsters. It’s unclear how these additions will affect the existing injury system, but they don’t replace the Clutch Claw and are simply additional options.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is coming next year to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Capcom plans to share more information this summer, likely through a new Monster Hunter digital event.
