The latest Heat 2 news ….

The Heat is on…

Fans are eagerly awaiting Michael Mann’s sequel to Heat, and recent news confirms filming will begin in September and continue until March 2027. A lot of the current discussion revolves around casting, as the movie is a prequel. Everyone is wondering who will portray younger versions of the iconic characters originally played by Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Val Kilmer, Jon Voight, and Tom Sizemore.

The Heat 2 plot…

Adam Driver will star as Otis Lloyd Wardell in Heat 2, a chilling character: a serial rapist and psychopathic killer who leads a dangerous group of home invaders. The film, based on Michael Mann’s novel, jumps between 1988 and 2000, showing Wardell’s significant conflict with Robert De Niro’s character, McCauley, and how that encounter shapes McCauley’s personality in the original Heat movie. Wardell’s case is also the reason Hanna leaves the Chicago Police Department. He’s a central figure in the 2000 Los Angeles scenes with Shiherlis and Hanna, and his story is what drives the film’s dual timeline structure.

The casting….

As a huge fan of the original, I’m getting really excited about the cast they’re putting together for the remake! It’s looking pretty solid that Leonardo DiCaprio will be taking on the role of Chris Shiherlis, and Christian Bale is set to play Vincent Hanna. Stephen Graham is supposedly Neil McCauley, which is fantastic casting, in my opinion. There’s also talk that Jason Clarke might be joining the team as Nate, which would be a great addition.

The film has a substantial budget, reportedly around $200 million, which led to considerable discussion among studios about funding it. This ultimately meant a streaming service was most likely to finance the project, and it ended up with Amazon MGM Studios.
