Sony has announced that two PlayStation Plus games will be available to download on their release day. Getting new games on day one with PlayStation Plus is rare – it hasn’t happened often in recent years. This is a key difference between PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass, which frequently adds new releases from day one. So, it’s unusual to see two day-one PlayStation Plus games confirmed at the same time. While one game doesn’t have a specific release date beyond 2026, the other is scheduled to launch in September.
Gamers with the basic (Essential) PlayStation Plus subscription won’t receive the new games at launch. These games will only be available to those on the Extra or Premium tiers. While not permanently free, they can be played as long as they remain in the rotating game selections for those higher subscription levels.
Runescape Dragonwilds
RuneScape: Dragonwilds, a survival and crafting game set in the RuneScape universe, is launching worldwide on September 15th. It will be available on PS5 and through PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium from day one. This marks the first time a RuneScape game has ever been released on PlayStation. The game was previously available in early access on Steam.
According to official game details, dragons have returned to Ashenfall, a long-lost region in RuneScape. This new game challenges players to work together (up to four players) to gather resources, build structures, and improve their skills to survive. To defeat the Dragon Queen, players must learn to survive and discover the secrets of the past—either solo or with friends.
Big Walk
Panic and House House, the creators of Untitled Goose Game, have confirmed that their new co-op adventure game for PS5, Big Walk, will be available to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members at no extra cost when it launches later this year.
Big Walk is a cooperative multiplayer game where players work together and communicate to succeed. The game takes place in a large, open world filled with challenges, puzzles, and things to discover. Players must rely on each other to navigate the environment, stay connected using various tools, and find alternative ways to communicate when they lose the ability to speak.
Currently, the early access version of RuneScape Dragonwilds costs $30, and the price may increase when the full game releases. Big Walk is expected to cost at least $20, possibly more. PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members will save $50 if they plan to play either of these games when they launch.
