Arizona Sunshine, A Non-VR Remake of Vertigo’s Zombie-Slaying Title, Announced for Consoles and PC

Vertigo Games is bringing its zombie shooter, Arizona Sunshine, to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Originally released for VR, this version has been rebuilt for traditional screens. The game was revealed with a new trailer at the Future Games Show: Summer Showcase 2026. You can watch the trailer below.

Unlike the original Arizona Sunshine, which was played from a first-person view, the updated version will be a third-person shooter. Players will battle waves of zombies across diverse levels, with a wide range of weapons at their disposal – from pistols and assault rifles to grenade launchers and flamethrowers. When things get overwhelming, players can also use grenades to thin the zombie crowds.

So, I’m super excited about Arizona Sunshine! It’s not just a single-player experience anymore. You can play online with friends, or even split-screen co-op, which is awesome. In the single-player campaign, you’ll have a dog named Buddy helping you out – he’s really good at taking down zombies! And here’s the coolest part: they’re letting you play as Buddy now, which you couldn’t do in the original VR version. It’s a total game-changer!

It’s currently unclear if the new version of Arizona Sunshine will incorporate the content that was previously released as Arizona Sunshine 2 in 2023.

Originally released in 2016, Arizona Sunshine was well-received by critics, who particularly enjoyed its exciting shooting action. The game was recently updated in 2024 to take advantage of newer technology, with enhanced graphics, more realistic physics, and a variety of new items.

No release date for Arizona Sunshine has been announced yet.
