Psychological Horror RPG The Pines Launches in 2027, New Trailer Revealed

Studio Abattoir has released a new trailer for their psychological horror RPG, The Pines, and announced it will come out in 2027. The trailer shows a glimpse of the frightening experiences Edward Walker has when he travels to the seemingly peaceful town. You can watch it below.

Okay, so this game is WILD. There’s this woman who keeps telling you not to go near the forest, and then you stumble upon a dead body chilling with a bunch of garden gnomes – seriously creepy! But the worst part? This guy with a chainsaw is actively trying to kill you. And it doesn’t stop there! You’ve got cultists to worry about too. The weirdest thing though? My character, Walker, can steal anyone’s clothes. Like, anyone’s. I have no idea why, and honestly, the game doesn’t seem to explain it! It’s just…there.

Although not heavily emphasized, The Pines includes a skill system and perks, as well as choices that genuinely impact the story. As you explore the town and meet its residents, you’ll find a variety of weapons beyond the standard axe. The game follows Walker, who travels there on his therapist’s recommendation, but things quickly prove to be much more stressful than he anticipated.

He’s responsible for figuring out the mystery, which involves examining crime scenes, finding clues, and interviewing the town’s residents – all while carefully deciding who to believe. The game also has a unique system where anyone you upset could become an enemy seeking revenge. It really adds to the pressure!

The Pines is coming to PC. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay in the coming months.
