Sega Reveals Official First Look at New Sonic x Evangelion Crossover for 35th Anniversary

A new trailer for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is out now, celebrating 35 years of Sonic the Hedgehog! The trailer reveals some exciting guest characters, including the classic monster Godzilla and the famous robot, Evangelion Unit-01. You can watch the trailer below.

Fans of popular culture will be excited to see characters beyond Godzilla and those from Neon Genesis Evangelion racing in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. In July, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will join the high-speed competition, and more are on the way.

The trailer revealed a new indie game called Sonic Pico Park, which puts popular characters like Sonic, Tails, Amy Rose, and Knuckles into the world of Pico Park. The game will offer a similar puzzle-solving experience to the original Pico Park, but with some added features to highlight the unique abilities of Sonic and his friends.

Coming in September 2025, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds enters the competitive world of kart racing, but it quickly stands out from the crowd. According to the game’s official description from Sonic Team and SEGA, players will “Race across land, sea, air, space, and time!” and travel through portals to discover new dimensions filled with surprises at every turn.

Beyond the exciting and well-made racing itself, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds quickly gained popularity thanks to its inclusion of characters from other games and franchises.

Critics and players have generally praised Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds since its launch. Currently, the game has a Metascore of 82/100 on Metacritic, based on 82 professional reviews.
