Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s Max Level is 99; Optional WEAPONs Have “Dedicated Narrative Components”

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the last game in the Remake trilogy, is going all-out to please fans. You can play as Cid Highwind right from the beginning, and the world is huge and mostly open for you to explore freely. Whether or not it has a truly satisfying conclusion remains to be seen, but director Naoki Hamaguchi promises there’s only one planned ending.

Players can now achieve the highest possible level in the game, just as originally intended. The developer confirmed to Everything.it that unlike previous installments (Remake and Rebirth), Revelation won’t have a level cap – you’ll be able to reach level 99.

That’s fantastic! However, be prepared – you’ll probably need all the help you can get. You’ll encounter incredibly powerful weapons and enemies, even stronger than the last boss in the main story. Think about the superweapons themselves, or the popular Knights of the Round.

Unlike previous games where unlocking extra difficulty meant replaying everything, this time you’ll be encouraged to finish all the side content on the map after beating the story. Plus, they’re adding stories specifically for each of the optional WEAPONs.

Coming in Spring 2027, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be released on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 at the same time – a first for this series of games. Players will be able to team up with Cid and Vincent Valentine, each offering a different way to play, and experience the new FITS system.

This system is similar to how character customization worked in older games like those featuring Steve Jobs and Final Fantasy X-2. Changing equipment alters how characters look and gives them new skills. We’ve already seen Cloud and Tifa dressed as Warriors and Black Mages, but we’ll share more about what other outfits and abilities are coming soon!
