Immediately following the debut of Switch 2, Nintendo unveiled a new spin-off for the popular game Splatoon. Named Splatoon Raiders,
The article continues by mentioning that the main character in Splatoon Raiders is proficient in mechanical tinkering, which aligns with Nintendo’s previous labeling of the character as The Mechanic. Given this information, it’s not unexpected. As for the game itself, we know that members of Deep Cut, specifically Shiver, Frye, and Big Man, have been left on the Spirhalite Islands after a helicopter crash. It appears the story follows the player character using their mechanical skills to create a path back home.

According to recent rumors, it seems that Splatoon Raiders could be launched in 2025. So far, Nintendo hasn’t provided any information regarding the game’s release date, but considering their plans for this year, it would come as quite a surprise. On August 14th, Drag x Drive will hit the shelves of Nintendo Switch 2, and Pokemon Legends: Z-A is set to arrive on October 16th. Apart from these two games, there are at least three more Nintendo-published titles slated for release in 2025: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and Kirby Air Riders. Given that Nintendo usually releases one game per month, it looks like 2025 is shaping up to be quite a busy year for them.
There’s a strong possibility we’ll gain more insight into the company’s release timeline during an upcoming Nintendo Direct. While the exact date for their next livestream remains undisclosed, whispers indicate that it may take place before July concludes. If so, this would be an opportune moment for them to reveal details about the rest of 2025 and perhaps give us a sneak peek at “Splatoon Raiders.
The appearance of Splatoon Raiders might imply that Splatoon 4 is not likely to arrive soon. Although updates for Splatoon 3 have become less frequent since the Grand Festival Splatfest last year, we’ve still witnessed some new Splatfests, fresh weapons, and even an upgrade for the Switch 2. Fans may find satisfaction with both Splatoon Raiders and additional content for Splatoon 3 until a genuine mainline entry of Splatoon emerges.
