Of the many manga series that have premiered as a part of Weekly Shonen Jump, Kagurabachi has wasted little time in skyrocketing in popularity since it debuted in 2023. Earlier this year, the moment that many Shonen Jump enthusiasts were waiting for was confirmed as the sword-slashing series was confirmed to release a new anime beginning next year. With the manga continuing to release new chapters on a regular schedule, the printed story has some unfortunate news for fans who have been following Chihiro’s story so far. Kagurabachi is taking a hiatus this summer, though it has revealed new details on its return.
I noticed that the manga Kagurabachi is taking a break after its release in the 31st issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on June 29th. The good news is it won’t be a long wait! The series will be back with new chapters around August. Apparently, the creator, Hogarano, needed some time to rest and ensure the story continues at a good pace. The editorial team at Weekly Shonen Jump announced this, thanking readers for their continued support and promising a return to serialization soon.
Kagurabachi Dominance

The manga Kagurabachi quickly became incredibly popular in 2023 – and it did so without any help from an anime adaptation, which is unusual. Other hit series like My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen gained even more fans after their anime adaptations were released, making people curious to see how much bigger Kagurabachi‘s story can become with its upcoming anime. The anime is scheduled to air next year, but a preview will be shown at Anime Expo this summer for those who attend. Fans of Shonen Jump will finally get to see if the anime adaptation lives up to the quality of the original manga.
It’s interesting that Kagurabachi might be animated by Cypic, but an experienced anime director is also involved! Tetsuya Takeuchi, the animator famous for the epic Rock Lee vs. Gaara fight in Naruto, is directing the series. The manga creator, Takeru Hokazono, is thrilled, saying that scene in Naruto was amazing and he’s excited to see what this talented team does with Kagurabachi. He believes the staff truly understands the source material and anticipates a fantastic anime – it’s definitely one to look forward to!
