New Isla Monstro Animated Film Features Futurama, Arrow, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer Stars – Watch The Trailer (Exclusive)

Imagine discovering a secret tropical island inhabited by the results of old government experiments – and they’re all looking for jobs! What would you do? The new animated sci-fi comedy, Isla Monstro, answers with a luxury resort, though turning that idea into reality proves surprisingly difficult. The film boasts a fantastic voice cast, including stars you’ll recognize from shows like Futurama, Arrow, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Check out the first trailer below!

Isla Monstro, a new film from The Nacelle Company and Abyssmal Entertainment, follows Duke after he stumbles upon a hidden government island populated by surprisingly friendly monsters. He gets the idea to turn it into a resort, leading to hilarious chaos! Directed and animated by Steven Shea (known for Surviving Supercon), the movie features a star-studded cast including James Schrader (Dr. Squatch Soap), Juliana Harkavy (Arrow), John DiMaggio (Futurama), James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Harry Lennix (Man of Steel), Harland Williams (Half Baked), Spencer Grammer (Rick and Morty), and many others. Isla Monstro will be available to stream on Prime Video, Apple TV, and Google Play starting June 30th.

Isla Monstro Is A Wild Monster-Filled Workplace Comedy

While Isla Monstro may involve crazy experimental creatures and all sorts of military involvement, it also contains a host of elements from workplace comedies, given that many of these creatures are now going to be employees at the resort. They don’t exactly need the money either, thanks to all the pirate gold in their possession, so they can just build the resort they want, and that will no doubt bring in the customers.

Isla Monstro follows the adventures of Duke after he falls off a cruise ship and realizes he has found an abandoned top secret government island full of experiments from a failed 1980s DARPA super soldier project. Most of the experiments seem pretty nice though, and he decides that they should use this not-so-traditional tropical paradise to their advantage and open a resort.

This place boasts an ideal setting and is staffed by a unique team of unusual characters, but danger always lurks nearby – especially with the military determined to reclaim the island and uncover its hidden mysteries.

Shea expressed excitement about joining the Nacelle team, calling it a dream come true. They highlighted Nacelle’s impressive animation work and unique combination of comic-con culture and comedy as the ideal fit for their project, a resort themed around mutants.

Brian Volk-Weiss, Founder and CEO of Nacelle, expressed his excitement about the release of their new animated film, predicting audiences will really enjoy it.

Isla Monstro was created by Mike De Trana and Brian Volk-Weiss, with production led by Shea and Anna Roberts. Shea and James Schrader wrote the story, and Rob Reider composed over 86 minutes of original music. The film’s visuals were created by artists Logan Van Der Wolf, Zia Izzy, Elly Karipides, and Chickenz. Fans can also look forward to a comic book series, a video game app, and related merchandise coming soon.

You’ll be able to watch Isla Monstro starting June 30, 2026, on streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Google Play.
