A horrific twist spells huge trouble for Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) in EastEnders.
This is a particularly difficult time for the family, as Denise is currently receiving intensive chemotherapy for blood cancer, and her son, Jordan, recently had major spinal surgery.
He was hit by Ian Beale’s car by accident. Ian was distracted trying to help his mother, Kathy, who was drunk, and keep her from interrupting Vicki Fowler and Ross Marshall’s wedding.
Chelsea first admitted she should have kept a closer eye on Jordan after he ran off. However, things have escalated with Ian – she recently slapped him in anger. Now, Ian is hiring an aggressive lawyer who plans to portray Chelsea as an unfit mother.
This week, Denise received support from her sister Libby (Belinda Owusu). However, they then found out that Jordan’s grandmother, Sheila Atkins (Sheila Ruskin), had been sending him checks that Chelsea never deposited.
Libby realized the money could really help with the child’s well-being, but Chelsea was reluctant to deal with Sheila. For those who remember, the child’s father is Gray Atkins, a known serial killer (played by Toby-Alexander Smith).
I was so upset for Chelsea when she found out her sister reached out to Sheila behind her back! It felt like such a betrayal. But thankfully, Eve talked some sense into her, and Chelsea agreed to go ahead and meet Sheila anyway. I’m glad she’s trying to handle things maturely.
The sisters were on edge waiting for Sheila to come. They planned to keep Jordan’s illness a secret until they were sure Sheila wouldn’t interact with Gray.
Sheila hadn’t seen her grandson in a long time and was shocked to learn he was a serial killer when she saw him on TV. After discovering what he had done, she believed prison was the right place for him.
She also shared that she wasn’t allowed to see Gray’s other children, Mia and Mackenzie, and really wished she could connect with Jordan.
Chelsea agreed to see each other again, maybe including Jordan next time, after explaining he’d been in the hospital and needed a lot of time to recover. Sheila gave her another check, but Chelsea worried bringing them together would just create more problems.
A disheartened Sheila understood, and reluctantly accepted the cheque back.
Chelsea checked on Jordan at the hospital and was upset to hear from her Aunt Kim that he wanted to go home and play football. She also found out Ian was planning something underhanded.
At the end of the episode, Chelsea found Sheila near the subway station and gave her a picture of Jordan from school. This time, she also took the check, understanding it would really help her son.
However, as the picture was slid into Sheila’s purse, we also caught glimpse of Gray’s face.
